I hear Ross Lyon on "before the game" Saturday saying that Kosi has been banned from high fives. I hate to think what will happen if he tries the little pat on the bum instead.

Hopawate

Oh no! Kosi kicked another freaking goal - run!

I wouldn't want to see Blake dropped either
Who do you think would be the other unlucky bloke then? I'd be leaning towards Gwilt, though I think he had a good game on Friday night
Gwilt confuses me, he's been good this year but he doesn't really have a set spot on the ground. Jack of all trades, master of none. One day that could cost him, when we have bases covered by specialists and better utilities, but I'd leave him in right now.

But personally I'd spell Schneider (Ross wouldn't, I know). Just hasn't done that much to impress me, moves in and out of the game too much for my liking. He could do well to have to fight for his spot in the ressies

Whilst Schneider should be getting more of it, I still reckon he's been getting some important touches.

Only 5 goals in 5 games, but had 27 1%ers (and Milne has benefitted from a couple of give-offs too).

Gwilty and Dawson..but why should they come out. No. They don't need to.
What about when Raph comes back?

My typical theory - If it's not broken, it doesn't need fixing.

Let's keep it nice and simple and keep our current 6 backmen their performing for their spot. With the incentive of Hudgeton, Maguire, Raph and Begley all to come in, it should keep our defenders very hungry for a place in the side. Which ultimately, everyone should be playing like their position is under siege.

Nothing wrong with a bit of competition :)

I don't like that argument.
If Riewoldt, and Lenny Hayes were out of the team, would we leave them out of the team when they became fit, just because those taking their place didn't drastically stuff up.
That would be fine if we were playing a crap team, but what would happen when we played a strong team, and what would happen to their match fitness and form in the meantime.
I think we need to make sure we are playing our strongest team.
OK if we are talking about substituting Eddy for Clarke , or Armitage for McQualter then it's no big deal. But we are talking Max Hudgeton here!

But Dawson isn't just 'not drastically stuffing up'.

He's owning some of the leagues best forwards...

Plus Max is a little more injury prone, so they're gonna be cautious with him.

Saw him at the Freo game, he was sitting near us with his son. Yelled out 'I love you Maxy!' And I do. So very much.

Great to see he has a son too. :p

I think it can work but there are special circumstances
Dawson only got his chance because Hudghton got injured, and Dawson knows this. Yes he has performed well, with assistance, but I think he knows that when Max is fit he will be replaced. Currently he would be pretty high in confidence, knowing that the coaching staff is willing to play him as the fullback, and not mess around with the rest of the defensive structure to compensate

Maguire could come back in as I'm not convinced the coaches want Gilbo-Plug as a defender all season. This should also free up Fisher all the more, who has better kicking skills than Maguire

Other players currently in the back 6 (which really is a back 8 or 9 with rotations) might be performing better than expected due to pressure from players performing pretty well for the Zebs. This is nice to have, and keeps the players in the Zebs under pressure to continue to perform also. Win-win.

I'm not so sure that Xav is in our best 22 any more. Having said that, he will get his chance I think and I hope Armitage gets his, though I haven't heard too much about him tearing it up for Sandringham. Maybe he would be a good trade to GC (sorry A2R!)

Dawson will need to be spelled soon. Remember, he has never played a full year of AFL. We've given him some game time out of necessity and he's repayed us with some quality stopping jobs. Doesn't mean he can continue like that all season. When Maxy's right he'll come straight back in. When a tall defender goes out with injury, Dawson will come back in. Every minute he plays will be valuable in the long-run.

I know, something about the spelling of his name just dosn't click with my brain and I get it wrong every time I don't look it up.:o
Dosn't mean he is not a s*** hot full back though.

agreed
just sometimes I'm a speling Nazi

Let's just keep Kosi as Kosi, eh? :)

I agree that if it aint broke don't fix it, and both Max and Goose could benefit from an extended recovery time. It's a great situation that we don't have to rush them back (Raph too).

That said I reckon:
Baker Max Blake
Ray Goose Fisher

With Geary on the bench.

Dawson the unlucky one, but he's a rookie and has probably done enough to prove his worth already, seems the natural successor to Max next year and beyond.
Gilbert is named in the FP this week and I'm happy enough to leave him there if he's not needed back. Goddard can push up the ground and rotate with Fisher or Ray through a wing/imdfield spot.
If Raph comes back it should be for Gwilt on the pine.

If we can have Max and Goose to shut down the KP fwds. Blake on the 3rd tall. Baker on the best small. Ray to run it out and Fisher to get loose and direct play...

That looks pretty good to me.
That's like Saints fan pr0n I reckon.:D

Any reckon there will be late changes at all? I've heard a rumour that Kosi isn't going to play but not sure how much truth is in it though.

Well if Rocca is not playing next week it could be for two reasons.

1. Not selected because he is the worst 200 game player ever, and any little niggling injury renders him useless. ( oh no I twisted my ankle - he cries with a high pitched voice ).

2. He is terrified of " The revenge of the Cougar"

How good is Gilbert at cutting in front of packs and marking it, you see a lot of players in the AFL do this but drop the mark, he always seems to be able to hold onto them.

The Gilbo-Plug has certainly been one of the most improved players. Thought he was pretty good last season, but this season you feel confident that's he's going to get those grabs.

I thought he looked a bit rusty early on Sunday mind you, and his kicking let him down a few times.

Hope he can remain consistent and have a superb year

Sorry for comming into ur board but just wondering where armitage/Mcevoy/lynch or any of ur draft picks in the last 3 years are at? Armitage had lots of hype behind him and im just wondering whether he'l start playing soon. Thanks

Pretty hard to break into the side at the moment. Without setting the world on fire, the likes of Eddy, Gwilt, Jones and Geary have been solid or better, so dropping one of them for Armitage right now doesn't seem likely (injury aside)

McEvoy should get another go this season, but if we have a fit King, Gardiner and Kosi then there's no room for another big man. Injury will see him get a chance

I think Lynch is a fair way away yet from making his debut

I met Lynch at Subway on Sunday. Good bloke. Anyway, i don't think any of those players are going to get a game barring injury.

Was he going for a tuna and salad type, or footlong meatball with extra cheese? And 4 cookies?

The difference is, we've played good teams and it's proven effective. So why change it if we are playing a worse team? It wouldn't make sense. It's only more of a chance to stuff up than be successful.
