Not convinced that doomsday for the Dockers is here as some seem to be predicting in the media....

One question - Sandilands rucking all day. Does he need a backup like Warnock in the side? Most successful teams over the past few years have run with at least two decent Ruckmen in the side. I was surprised he didn't get a run on the weekend in order to really smash the Pies relatively brittle stocks - I thought Sandilands/Warnock would well and truly have bettered Wood/Fraser, yet it seemed it was mostly left to Sandilands to do all the work....

There was still some doubts over his match fitness.

Rest assured he will play this weekend.

It sounds like we got run over in the 4th quarter rather than that we got trounced in the ruck duals. With Black missing most of the game, an extra runner is a bonus. The decision to prefer Johnson over Gilmore as 2nd ruck is the debatable one I reckon.

Warnock offers alot more than just the ruck option. He can take a grab, good skills off the deck, good skills all round.

Agreed Gav. With Johnson's disposal uncharacteristically terrible on Saturday as well, it really hurt the team. The loss of Black, along with the absence of Thornton and Mundy/Johnson moving further up the ground robbed us of a lot of our run from half-back (pretty similar to this time last year) - with our poor midfield, we really need these guys firing to help out the other defenders and ensure there's quality supply for the forwards.

Johnson continues to show that he's not a midfielder. He's currently a shadow of the player who was runner up in the B&F in 2006. He needs to return to the backline full time, which will also release Dodd to cover Matt Carr's role.

Interesting point. When you think about it...

OUT
M Carr

IN
Ibbotson/Foster/O'Brien etc

Plus both Dodd and Johnson will play much better in more suitable roles

Yeah mate, spot on.

Gilmore to the ruck (depending on rucks, Warnock otherwise), Johnson to the backline, Dodd to M.Carr's tagging role. Nice nice. Do it Harvey.
