Which guitarists are considered to be average, mediocre, or just plain bad? I remember an interview with Jimmy Barnes where he said his own guitar playing made Keith Richards sound good. Is Keef considered a poor guitarist?
 
If your in a band+touring you cant be that bad, even if you have no chops ect.

You cant have "Bad" guitarists "bad" drummers or "Bad" bassists running around in bands, its impossible unless they are playing a tape out back and pretending to play

Or otherwise, I consider Tripp Elson bad for having sex with 2 14 year olds, is he out of jail yet?

And just because Edge plays nothing special, he must have played guitar for about..20 years? ild say he would definatly have some chops, even though it doesnt come out in the dullness of U2 music.
 
as a listener of punk rock music alot of those guitarists are much better than the 3 chord stereotype. Eric Melvin is hardly a great guitarist tho, he's not very good at all really.

Sid Vicious was an aweful bass guitarist.

Exactly.

The Edge is a great guitarist. He's a genius. Just because his technical ability isn't as good as others doesn't automatically qualify him as a bad guitarist.

Well Melvin is the worst guitar player in NOFX.

Sid was awful. Steve Jones is a good guitarist and Paul Cook a quality drummer. The Pistols showed what musicians they were on 'Filthy Lucre' when Glen Matlock was back with them on bass.

Jimmy is full of shit.

Keith has been a great player over the years.

The fact he has his guitars tuned to all different keys is a stroke of genius and one of the reasons the stones songs sit differently in comparison to other bands.

Kurt Cobain is a bad guitarist.CC Deville is a bad guitarist.

Steve Jones is a solid guitarist.
