I think we had two or three picks before Lenny was taken, its a f*****g tragedy we didn't take him.

It is. I absolutely adore him. Want him to have my babies

This article makes me sad :(

Lenny Hayes slips under guard

HE'S a premier midfielder, but Lenny Hayes could easily have been running on to ANZ Stadium tomorrow night as a Swan, not a Saint.

Hayes is as Sydney as they come. He grew up in Pennant Hills and would head to the SCG in the 1990s to cheer on his beloved Swans.

The Swans picked: 'Nic Fosdike (No. 3) and Jude Bolton (No. 8) both won a premiership with the club - No. 4 selection Ryan Fitzgerald had his career cruelled by injuries and went on to make his name on Big Brother.'

I'm not going to be too critical of the swans picks, but he was home grown talent who adored the club. He would have been committed and a absolutely brilliant representative of the talent pool in Sydney. Can't you just imagine him in the midfield with Kirky? *Sigh*

Then again, it would have been a tossup between two of him, Fossie and Jude (given Fitzy was a KPP and another kettle of fish). Fosdike was one of our best in the 2005 GF, and without him, we may well not have won a Premiership, though Hayes' career has undoubtedly been better overall, and Jude's contribution to the club has been amazing. Though Hayes probably would have been a better pick than Bolton overall, it's not really that much of a tragedy when you consider we got a guy who could easily have won a Norm Smith in a tight GF, and another who is something like fourth on our all-time games list.

Also, Taylor Walker is from Broken Hill, and grew up a Crows supporter. He has absolutely no connection to Sydney whatsoever.

Does praying for Adelaide to suffer continued misery and a 22 game losing streak so Taylor Walker comes back to Sydney make me a bad person/supporter?
I'm going to continue with the prayers now - they dropped him today. Will do the young man's confidence no end of good, straight swap him for Ed Barlow.
