What seemed destined to manifest as a mirage under the warm desert sun, suddenly burst into drought-breaking rains at Abdu Prison today.



With our first win for the season finally on the board, the overriding emotion was relief.

Whilst it was always gonna take time for the new lineup to gel, the question was … how much change was required for the right balance of attack and defence?



When to attack the reserves of alcohol hidden in the coldroom, and when to defend the barrels of homebrew under the floorboards.

Well kentlemen, that time has thankfully arrived.

Great win away from home followed by some hearty partying in West Coast last night



While Baghdad’s drinking restrictions simply send drinkers to the black market, away games give us the chance to drink in pubs again



After some duty-free shopping, the team navigates it’s way through Baghdad Airport to the terminus



There’s always gab213 and a couple of others who arrive just in time for takeoff with a head full of last night’s frivolities



The frequent flyer points count towards some additional treats once we’ve passed the border
