Nice stats. Overall teamwise he stacks up quite nicely. It's certainly not what I expected so nice work.

Good luck for the rest of the season. It seems like doom and gloom at the moment but Clarke looks like being a monster and Fyfe is going to be a superstar.

does that blow your argument away?

to me score assists are a better indicator, but they are very hard to find.

No suprise Palmer and DeBoer the poor shots at goal lead this count

Nice stats there Speedy, really interesting that Ballas is high up on scoring assists both in average per game and in total - shows how important his drive is in creating chances for everyone in the forward line, not just himself. In contrast, I was surprised how few SAs Mayne has this year - a bit of a change resulting from his role this year being the key forward in Pav's absence, or is he just backing himself more often I wonder?

BTW, good to see you posting on here again, board needs more banjo.

The simple fact is like a lot of our players Ballantyne has taken a step backwards this year. He is definetly a love/hate player because when he's on he's On but when he's not he is a glory hound and selfish. Ballaz and Mayne should have kicked way more goals with the opportunities they have haid both this year and last year.

We are crying out for a forward who can kick goals

We have a forward that can kick goals. His name is Matthew Pavlich and he's been played in the midfield all year.

There's another bloke called Kepler (proven) and another guy called Jack (maybe) that could also do this. But we've used Mayne and MJ as our key forwards all year. Our forward structure has been sh*t all year, and that is the fault of the coaching team.

When our team is playing poorly, Balla tries too much because he knows we need a lift. True, he does like a bit of glory and makes some poor or selfish decisions sometimes, but when we're playing like crap sometimes guys have to take a chance.

The guy is a huge liability. His style of play which let's be honest, revolves around trying to draw 50m penalties and diving, doesn't hold up against good teams. If Freo manage to get late into September in coming years, other teams will be hoping like hell he gets picked. As much as I hate the guy, I hope he plays another 200 games for Freo because it will be a sign that Freo still haven't shaken off the culture that has held them back for 15 years which suits me fine.

You have no clue .......now go away

I started typing this.."Small forwards always look good in strong teams and battle in the weaker ones". Then realised it was summed up perfectly here:

He is a master of chaos. When the ball moves quickly forward and the defense is put under extreme pressure then he is the kind of guy who will tear a defense apart because he is great at being in the right spot for a crumb.

But, if the ball is slow to crawl its way up the ground or slow chips along the flanks only to see inaccurate kicks deep into the pockets he has no room to manoeuvre and is a poor chance of the ball spilling his way because the defenders box you in.

It is the same with all good goal sneaks, they need the play to create opportunities but you need to be able to kick the ball to the advantage of your forwards, move the ball forward quickly and execute the kicking well.

Small forwards are easy to shut down if the midfield isn't performing well.

I'd also like to mention

Ballaz is good enough to make a difference in our side and I'm convinced he's another one that is consistently rushed back into the side too quickly after injury.
