To say Grover needs to learn how to spoil is just so bizarre, it's arguably his greatest strength :confused:

Also, to say he is the new Shane Parker...I hardly see how that's meant to be a demeaning comment considering Parks was one of the greatest servants we've ever had at the FFC, consistently played on the bigs and the smalls and always could keep his head held high :thumbsu:

Not his fault we had nobody else after Robbie Haddrill finally succumbed to his injury woes.

Next year should be Groves last season but it shouldn't be understated how good the boy from Balga has been for us for a long, long time.

You don't know what you're talking about. Perception is great except when it's wrong.

He only handballed on average once per game more than he kicked.
His kicking increased from last year 85 to 115 (-small decrease in avg 6.1 per game to 5.5 per game)
His Disposals per game increased from last year
He played more games than last year 14 to 20
He took more marks than last year
He made more tackles than last year

And whilst his handball to kick ratio has evened out a bit more and his clanger percentage has gone up to 1.5 per game from 1(hardly the errors you seem to be accounting to him) it's understandable based upon the team we have put out this year.

Have always rated Grover, he's a quality footballer, but I do think he's on the way out and will be overtaken by the young bucks next year.

- I didn't say anything about that. But his kick to handball has gone from 1.1:1 to 1:1.2, which is a good thing for the team.

- wait, so it decreased? so I was right, ok thanks. His average over 2009 and 2010 was over 7. If you only have 7 a game and it goes to 5, thats 30% buddy.

Your statement was he had "stopped kicking almost entirely" No he hasn't.

Maybe stats support that his averages have dropped a little bit over the longer term of this season compared to last..would be interested to find out who you would have played in his place.


And you can argue all you like that he should be kicking more but he's been incredibly consistent all season in a defence that's been under the pump for long time

Ok. Let's go back to worrying about Lyon trading Barlow because he didn't mention his name in a couple of interviews.

Shit thread that deserved the derailment imo. Especially since we now have a muppet bagging the crap out of Grover and basing his argument on statistics and the fact that he can't spoil.

Maybe, with the consensus of opinion being opposed to your viewpoint, you could reassess your view?

Alternatively might be an idea to read my post before bashing the keys. I didn't say it would be interesting to see how you would have played in his place. I said it would have been interesting to see WHO you would have played in his place. THAT was my key point.

On top of that...enough of the "kids" nonsense.

I think Lyon is a great coach but his determination to play that spud at every opportunity absolutely baffled me.

If we need a another key forward I would go for Sandi.

Barlow would have to get back to his very best to get more votes than Fyfe IMO. Who knows though...can't wait. How many days till the new season?

Yes, but the thing is if Barlow gets back to his best and Fyfe goes up another gear and Lyon's game plan gives us a massive home ground advantage I can see us winning an extra 6-7 games which would put them both right up there in the voting.

I laughed when the Bookies had Barlow @$51.00 at the start of 2011 but that might be a good price at the start of 2012. If he gets back to full fitness by Round 1 I'm loading up :)

The factor that will give us the biggest home ground advantage IMO . is a normal pre-season from , hill , mundy , mora & Barlow.As for gameplans, we should not be expecting anything less than what we got in 2010.

classic!!! Barlows a gun simple hope he sticks around at freo but wasnt mentioned as a top 4 player in a adelaide news article :/ they mentioned Sandilands,mundy,mcpharlin & Pavlich as the 4 elite players at the club barlow didnt even get a mention yeah everyone knows he get a shitload of the ball and finds space so easy but i still think he's underrated!!!
