i reckon whatever his sentence is, the wrist will keep him out for longer.
also, whatever sentence he gets, he automatically receives a 25% discount for pleading guilty - early plea.

he said he was sorry? well, it did look more instinctive than out of anger...because he barely looked at Staker during and after the punch.

He only gets the 25% discount if he's sentenced by the MRP (maximum of 4 games). If his case gets sent directly to the tribunal (as it should), then he loses he ability to make an early plea, hence no discount.

5 weeks.

Its not as if he wanted to knock the bloke out, he didn't even look at him when he hit him. plus he did it right in front of the umpy.

Jakovich made an interesting point. Should the sin bin be introduced for incidents like this. Why should Hall play out the rest of the game when Staker was off for the reminder of the game.

thanks for clarifying rule; had no idea. in that case, deserves 8 weeks, but will probably get 6 weeks (which would be about how long he'll be out anyway with that wrist...karma)

I dont think the early plea will help, I think it might be a pickettesque automatic trip to the tribunal for Bazza. I think if you get over a certain amount of points you go to the tribunal and then all of the automatic suspension rules etc go out of the window much the same as when Pickett had to front the tribunal about his hit on James Begley.

I posted before reading your post. I think your pretty much right about that and I fully expect him to have the front the tribunal about that.

Loved Beau Waters flying the flag. Would love this guy at the AFC. Exactly the type of player we desperately need.

Springy, you are right on the money with this one.

Now that Roo has retired we lack that type of player with a genuine menacing presence.

I'd love the AFC to try everything to lure this lad back to Adelaide as he does have that nasty streak in him that we need.

Just on Hall. he should go straight to the tribunal which would guarantee him at least 5 to 6 games.

Waters is all signed up. Another 3 year wait atleast boys. :)

6-8 for mine. You just cant go around doing that kind of thing, especially in todays football, not even up here in the country !!!

I did love the look on his face immediately afterwards, the old "Why the hell did I just do that ??". Priceless :D

Agree - if a player is reported and the player hit has to leave the ground, the offending player should also be forced off the ground for the same length of time.

I think he will get 8-10 weeks.

It shouldn't be a factor, but they will (hopefully) take into account the fact that he will be missing 6-7 weeks anyway because of the broken wrist.

Justice needs to be seen to be served and this can't happen if he does not effectively miss any games as a result of the suspension (which he wouldn't have otherwise missed through injury). For this reason they will give him 2-3 weeks longer than the expected recovery time for his injury.

This is pretty much the case. He's maxed out every category basically, high contact, severe, behind the play = straight to tribunal.

He'll get 8 weeks, and his injury shouldn't come into it as other's have suggested.

Well there are a few things to take in.

Pro’s:

1) he plays for Sydney -5 weeks
2) has got off a striking charge so he can play in a grand final when he should have got 3 weeks so it is clear he is protected -3 weeks
3) Goodes (Mr untouchable) is a team mate & may threaten to claim vilification on the grounds that he may indirectly be affected by any suspension of Hall. -15 weeks.
4) He broke his wrist so he will be out any way so any suspension will be enough to just cover the recovery period -6 weeks

Con’s:

1) he absolutely smashed a guy in the face +20 weeks
2) Staker’s mother sooked about her little baby being hit, so the AFL feel the need to punish the naughty boy who committed this heinous crime. +8 weeks
3) For some reason doctors feel the need to be interviewed on radio saying he could have killed Staker +2

Conclusion:

However many weeks he is injured will be the amount of time suspended + 1-2 weeks.

My guess 8 weeks

As Embers said he is signed up for another 3 years. However, when he comes out of contract we need to make him an offer he can't refuse. Lets start using some of our financial clout aggressively. Just of interest, what would you be willing to trade for Waters - humour me.:thumbsu:
