I haven't been able to watch much of the games so far in 2009 hence my location. I just wondered how people have seen Jimmy's form so far? I haven't heard much about him this year at all. It has been the Ablett show.

One of the commentators at the Richmond game said yesterday "Bartel's had a quiet one today(by his standards....Only 20 touches" (beginning of the fourth qtr).

He's been notable when he has the ball for mine, but it's not being highlighted as much yet this year.

Still one of my favourite players.

He is playing fine for me ive got him in both DT and SC. While not staring yet he will be on fire when required. Gazza and Selwood are up at the moment so he can just play his role till required to explode. Team game and the team just happens to have the best midfield

Jimmy is playing fine getting the ball and using it as efficiently as ever. The club appears to be using certain players in the engine room and will probably add Jimmy to play more in the engine room at a certain stage.
Jimmy has been playing more on a wing and half back at this early stage of the season as well as James Kelly in defense.
I think this is a good thing to keep the boys fresh for the long season ahead so no concern about Jimmy's form he is playing a role he has been told to play.

Yeah, he hardly seemed to start in the centre at all yesterday, but I did notice that when Richmond caught up to us, he was then moved to the middle.

All the players looked very tired yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if that's to do not only with the Hawks game (they looked tired too!!), but also that the boys had a hard week on the track perhaps? Maybe the conditioning program is full-on at the moment, and they didn't have a lot in the tank.

Maybe JIMINY CRICKET can concentrate fully on footy only, now all his cricket commitments are finished. He should really freshen up now. Definitely a mismatch when he was on Richo.

The cricket angle's been overplayed. Six and out, forget about it now. Our Jimmeh played a good, solid game against the Hawks - I'm waiting to see the Cats v Richmond game again before I can comment on what he did this round.

He's been under the radar down back so far, which is good. He's not gonna blow a gasket any time soon.

Two games for 2009, both games he's has 25+ possies.

Yeah. Jimmy is really struggling. I am thinking we drop him for a good user of the ball like Byrnes.

People.... We've lost two friggen games in 12 months... SHUT UP!

Hahahahahaha... OMG could you imagine this place if that happened.....

He is cruising. Lets hope there is a reason to it.

Stats? Do you guys live on stats?
Care to give me his stats for the 08 GF? I have no idea what they were, but Jimmy would have to get 25 every game surely?

It's how damaging he is with it.

I'm a broken record, I say it over and over again. The backline is starting to hurt us and him and GAJ are not getting the ball forward of centre enough.

It is not thier fault, they are helping down back.

Struth, there are even threads about SJ moving too far up the ground.

Everyone is complaining about our forwards, but it is the lack of back half drive that is causing a ton of issues.

Hoff. Stop being god and start contributing.

Very catty, i like it!

You have a point, stats aren't everything, however I think his output thus far has been about as good as it was last year. I don't think last year he was dazzling, in fact I can recall saying to myself that he looks a bit down at stages. Probably isn't playing is absolute best footy but always does what his asked of him and is still contributing solidly.

Don't jump off the Jimmy bandwagon.

This should be part of the other thread about Bartel

Anyway, I like how Flanagan has put it:
http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rf...ge-will-prevail/2009/04/03/1238261798552.html
"The Cats are mighty good but set in their ways. They can team beautifully but they're conventional. The last two times Geelong played Hawthorn I've paid attention to Jimmy Bartel. He's been brave and diligent but he hasn't imposed any larger pattern on the game in the way, for example, that Luke Hodge does. The Cats rely for variety, for their capacity to surprise opponents, on two players — Steve Johnson and Gary Ablett."

That is the biggest knock on Bartel - that he doesn't change games

Maybe Mr Flanagan shouldve watched Jimmy the last 3 games against the Hawks, because he basically won us the game in Round 17 last year. He was awesome.

Jimmeh's 2nd half in that Round 17 game was outstanding! Kicked a great goal and was arguably our best that night.:thumbsu:
He has been pretty solid so far in 09,without being a standout.Hopefully this is the week when he has a blinder, love watching the #3 in full flight.

Aaaaah, good old Rd 17

It's like our comfort blanket

Dont know if ur trying to be clever, sarcastic or just a knob, but my point is that this guy is basically trying to say Jim doesnt win games or perform in big games, especially against the Hawks. I am pointing out that as recently as late last year he did it against the afore-mentioned team.

Let's piss him off to another club because he's obviously a dud.How about trade him to Richmond for a superstar game breaker like Tambling ?
Will that shut you up if we offload Jimmy ?

FFS,school holidays brings out the whack jobs

seems like he is doing fine for this part of the year.. would love to seem him peak about round 10 and through to the finals. Love Jimmy fav player.
