Basil interviews Leon Cameron

Basil is in career worst form this year, which is just really shocking, horrific form. The Cameron gaff is a stand-out, but he is consistently, 3-4 times a quarter, making errors in both play-calling and other waffle.

His case is probably helped by Rompingwins distracting everyone with extended biographies on a player's aunt and uncle and other inane nonsense.

Basil Zemplis is practically Orwellian compared to the likes of Ricciuto, Darcy, Brereton and dare I say it Ling (for his horrible delivery, if nothing else)

Most channels, including 7, are too scared to take a punt on a young commentator and instead go for experienced dinosaurs with no clue about the game.

And new commentators are always ex-players, for some reason, even if they can't commentate at all.

Oh Basil, you really are a shit-kicker. When idiots like BT make those sort of mistakes you can excuse it somewhat because at least he brings some colour to the broadcast. But when you have personality of a beige sea-urchin and you call the game with all the enthusiasm of Stannis Baratheon reciting the 4x Tables, it's inexcusable.

Hopefully Dennis is seeing what the future of commentating is going to be and reconsiders his retirement.

Dennis can be the vin scully of the AFL & just keep going (although vin is retiring this year too)

Anyone remember Baz on the boundary going for a high-five while Vitamin McVeigh/Welsh leaving him hanging or just didn't bother to notice. The clip was shown once and never again.

Its like Baz thought he was finally in the inner circle of the high school burnouts and cool kids after years of rejection.

Basil is the single worst play-by-play commentator in the entire industry. BT, Darcy, Hamish and Dwayne Russell are all terrible, but Basil is the on another level. I have no idea how someone that incompetent can keep his job, in any other workplace if you were that poor at what you get paid to do you would be sacked.

He always gets things wrong, he's continually a minute behind the play, often calling goals as the ball is back in the square ready to be balled up and any emotion he puts into his calling is horrifically contrived and manufactured and delivered with the diction of a year 7 making their first presentation in front of their new class mates.

I know he's from Perth but his commentary is about 2 hours behind play.

This kills me.

He always starts the call of the previous play when the current play is just beginning. Do it as it's happening, you stupid campaigner.
