I think you may have missed quite a few.

According to the provisional listing there are 54 entries, I doubt this would have dropped that much, and I notice you have missed the two Ross Palmer entries, which makes me think that this list is more likely.

I doubt that it would have dropped to 40 entries, as at one stage they have over 60 applications for the race, and were worried they couldn't fit them all as there is only 55 garages in the pits!

The field shown not only has not been updated for a week, but I have only included teams that have 2 or more drivers confirmed either through the site or through the Procar forums.

Definitely scratch a couple of competitors such as the Class A Honda (D.Palmer broke his collarbone) and probably a few others.

It will be worth watching just to see Crompton put his BMW into the wall at the end of Mountain Straight on his out lap after jumping into the car.:D

And to see Brocky finally get that elusive #10 win around Bathurst.

DAMN!! Thats an awesome combo. 3 Bathurst winners in one car, I can only hope its as fast as the 427 car like last year. Can Murph win 2 Bathursts in one year. I am looking forward to the 24 Hour Race, I was a bit sceptical last year, and still have my worries. For example, Car 427 won bt like 27 laps last year, thats a bir ridiculous really, but the concept is good and it will succeed.

Go the Monaro's!!!

SESSION 2

Fastest was the Engelhorn Ferrari from the Lambo and JB's Beemer. Top 5 completed by the Mosler of Martin Short and Altzen Porsche who was also the fastest Class B car. Both Monaros sat out the session, proably saving the car for the night session (and a few of the drivers have to head to Melbourne for V8 Superstars at the Dome).

FASTEST IN EACH CLASS
CLASS A: 48. Ferrari 360GT (Baron, Englelhorn, Montermini, Peter) (1st overall)
CLASS B: 6. Porsche 996 GT3 Supercup (J.Alzen, U.Alzen, Klasen, Bartels) (5th Overall)
CLASS D: 60. Suburu Impreza WRX STi (Salmon, Boatwright, Caswell, Hastings) (14th overall)
CLASS E: 95. Ford Falcon BA XR6 Turbo (McIlroy, Douglas, Stillwell, P.Kirkham) (30th overall)
CLASS F: 301. BMW 320i (Gurr, Searle, Yoong, Full) (8th overall for a Super Tourer!?)

NIGHT SESSION:

The Monaros returned for the night session and the 427 car was the quickest. In fact, the Monaros were split by the Mosler, with the Bowe Beemer and the Morris Porsche rounding out the 5.

CLASS LEADERS:

A: 427 Holden Monaro (Pretty, Tander, Richards, McConville) (1st overall)
B: 6. Porsche 996 GT3 Supercup (J.Alzen, U.Alzen, Klasen, Bartels) (7th overall)
D: 71. BMW M3 E46 (Boylan, Morgan, Hansen, Bates) (18th overall)
E: 62. Holden Commodore VX SS (Lintott, David Russell, I.Luff, Loadsman) (31st overall)
F: 41. Holden VY Commodore (Parker, Watters, Sala, Gazzard) (14 overall)

Stokell in the Lamborghini has just taken the Mosler and is now in 3rd, Monaro's have skipped away, but hey there is...

23 Hours and 45mins to go:p :p

YES!

Congrats to Brocky for winning 10 Bathursts - he is a legend!

Also congrats to Toddler, Jase and Murph! :D

Mybe this is a good omen for Murph - Bathurst 24hr one week, V8 Championship the next :D

GO DA MURPH!

People can bleet on and on saying that there wasn't a strong competiton this year, or that the Monaros were purposly built for this particular race, or that they had the backing of Holden and therefore got the best 8 drivers available, but the pure fact remains:

After 24 Hours, over 3500 kms and over 600 laps of (nearly) straight racing, they managed to get both cars home, both on the lead lap and within 1 second of each other.

And it showed that after 23 Hours and 52 minutes of racing, they were able to put out fastest laps while still being able to race each other for the lead. Any car company around the world would love that sort of publicity.

Well done to Peter Brock - the great man (and a personal hero of mine) has done it again. Proof that with the name Brock in your corner, you'll be one step ahead of the rest of the field.

How come 'Mr Personality' didn't drive one of the Monaro's ?
His team mate did.

You will see HEAVEN next Sunday Afternoon when Ambrose is Crowned the 2003 V8 Supercar Champion:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The Monaro's are awesome sounding beasts aren't they. It's a shame there is no real horsepower competition from Ford. What we need now is a return to the supercar days of the early 70's, when we had the Monaro's, Torana's, GTHO's and E49's.

Then I'd be in HEAVEN.
