looks like a right decision was made when he was dropped from the leadership group because leaders don't walk out.

I have a feeling Rivers may be next, hope i'm wrong.
No chance. Everytime I have heard Neeld speak about Rivers, he has said how pleased he has been with his work ethic and performance.

He never gave Moloney the same compliment

I hope to **** Rivers doesn't go.

He always defended Brent's work ethic actually - whether that's the truth is a different story.

Yeah I hope I'm wrong but with Greens Retirement, Beamer leaving, Davey having problems with Neeld earlier in the year, Those 3 along with Rivers are all mates that were dropped from the leadership group and I reckon they all have a grudge against Neeld, I hope he stays though

I can tell you for fact, Rivers loves the club, but is considering chasing success

If that's the case, and he's not 100%, he can piss off too

I would hope Rivers is staying. I think he's a great player and has a lot to offer us over the upcoming years. I wouldn't worry about the whole 'mate' thing either....he's very close with Howe, Frawley and a few others (who are staying).

However, if he's chasing 'success' as mentioned above, then who knows. Not a good enough reason if that's why he's going though, as he should still be around in a few years when we're on the rise. Also the club has stuck by him through terrible injuries and time off...wouldn't be pleased.

We need Rivers to stay, otherwise we'll have a team so devoid of mature leaders we'll be worse than GWS. We're having a big cleanout as it is - no point getting rid of everybody.

I don't think anyone wants him to go.

If he's not 100% committed, I do

If he stays and trains/plays with anything less than 100%, I feel I've badly misjudged his character over the years. If he commits I would think (and hope) he'd be completely on board.

This article from a few weeks back says we are trying to re-sign Rohan Bail while Rivers contract would be done later after the season. If i was Rivers I would be offended. Either A. the club is showing no respect to Rivers, or B. Rivers has made his mind up and doesn't want to sign.

Of course my preference is for a player like Rivers to stay and commit 100%

But if he's half arsed and is leaning towards chasing success, then if he goes, I wont lose sleep

You don't leave a club because of that...that's ridiculous. If he'd already made his mind up then fine (and I'm shocked and disappointed in him), but the timing of contract negotiations isn't a reason to change clubs.

Rivers has told the club he wants to stay but is also considering chasing success. He's weighing up his options.

Loves the clubs, can see we will be successful, but doesn't think that will occur in his time, so he's considering leaving.

Basic principle, he's weighing up being a 1 club player, or success

I just don't see why the club would want to sign someone like Bail over Rivers, Rivers would already have a grudge being dropped from the leadership group, has done everything right on the field this year and the club doesn't want to sign him strait up, it all seems strange to me.

He played 15 games this season (yes he was that hard to notice), was just terrible at Casey as well, really gets on my nerves when people say he wasn't given much opportunity.

Fair to say I was surprised at that tally... Thought it would be more like 10. Says a lot.

Fair point. However Rivers has been one of the few contributors this season and hasn't been dropped like Moloney.

Check out some of the interviews and Coaches office with Robbo on the club website. Whenever Neeld is questioned about top performing players over the year, he mentions the same guys every time (Jones, Grimes, Clark, Rivers, Frawley & Trengove). However if Rivers wants to go, I can't see Neeld being the guy to convince him and neither should he.
