Do you ever get fatigue about being wrong? The only ones I question are because they fail the common sense test, mind blowing how you can't see that.
Do you ever get wrist fatigue?

Time to make him a full time mid. Shift HH into the forward line and make him take the pressure forward role.

We need his size and acceleration, now he just needs consistent time in the midfield to hone his midfield craft.
love him in the midfield. Time to tell him to build his tank, he could be a real weapon

Someone like Atkins at Geelong should be the blueprint.

Similar type, started as a pressure forward if memory serves, now averaging 19.42 disposals with 5 goals for the season

McCreery 11.17 dpg 6 goals.

Its also about time we made Josh a full time mid
Although he sets up a lot of play off half back he adds speed and class to that mid field
Next year we can not have Pendles Sidey and Long in the same midfield
Sidey forward Pendles bench and part of the mid rotations still and Long as a backup mid
Maybe we look to move Crisp back to a HBF to replace and free up Josh

A move to full time mid is a must

Needs to get a lot more ball. He should be taking Degoeys spot in the midfield or at least interchanging with him 50/50.

Needs to improve his endurance. Doesn’t seem to be able to stay in games long enough. The cameos need to become a lot more frequent. Should be a weapon

They need to tailor his pre season around midfield. Get some wind in his lungs and he'll be a really damaging player. JDG needs to be at full fitness or he just can't offer anything. I wouldn't mind Jordy moving to permanent forward next year

I agree 100% with this. I’d only interchange Degoey/Beau if he can’t build his tank enough.

But completely agree with your thoughts.

I think Degoey would be the perfect replacement for mihocek. Easily capable of 35-50 goals.

My concern would be that he’s a really good centre square stoppage mid but does nothing else as a mid.
At the moment that’s true, but I think it’s worth the effort in trying to get him there. He’d be so good as a negater who can get his own clearance

I’ve not appropriately rated him until this season. Been calling for him to be a midfielder for years because I always think there where he seems so damaging.
I expect we’ll see more of it next season

He has been mismanaged at Collingwood. 95 games into his career and he still doesn't have a clearly defined role. Especially given our centre clearance roles, we have refused to make this guy a permanent mid.

I saw his foot was in a cast at the B&F night, hope its nothing serious!
It'd be fantastic for us to get a full preseason into him training with the mids!
I love the way we employed him in there when we needed to get the pill! Great move.
Between Beau and JDG, thats a great ace card to have.

Iirc, I think he was struggling with an ankle/foot injury late in the year, so perhaps it's to do with that.

McStay's arm was in a sling too, so who knows what injury he may have been struggling with too.

Both boys back to their best in 2026 would be huge for us.

He got trod on in the Demons game. Came back on in Q4 - we needed him. We were 4 goals down.

I think you sell both McCreery and Johnson short with this comment. Sticking with McCreery as the currently relevant one, I think he is elite by foot. He has great penetration, and delivers really well to the forwards that are not straight down the line when he gets the chance. My reservations about him as a midfielder centred on his fumbling and his limited possession count. He seems to be addressing these concerns judging on last year. Given his kick, handball is not his preferred disposal method, and I'm not really sure what his stats are in this skill. He is the midfielder you want to get the ball last in the chain to make the big kick inside 50. Ben Johnson was a different kettle of fish. The two of them have pace in common, but that's about all.

McCreery isn't elite by foot, at 63.3% actually a fair way off 'elite'. He has elite moments, but nowhere near enough of them to be classified as such.
As it stands going into his 6th season, I reckon he's near hit his ceiling in a HFF position and he's not pushing Long out of the midfield. As noted, Beau's 1-wood is his relentless tackling pressure and ability to cause turnover.

McCreery may well be destined for a HBF role, running on an opposite flank to Maynard. That duo presents a left and right foot combo; elite tackling pressure combined with line breaking long kicks from defence or launching scoring chains. I could see Beau becoming an AA quality HBF, but not as a HFF.
I see Harrison going past McCreery as an HFF option. Harrison will accumulate more possessions and any deficit in defensive accountability can be coached, goal sense can't, and Harrison has shown he has natural goal sense.

I'm not sure if the player comparison loads automatically, but you can easily add in Long and Harrison or Johno to compare statistical output.

24 years old, premiership player, 96 games. Originally a roleplayer type which Fly loves, backs and supported even when not kicking goals personally.

The last year or so fans have witnessed glimpses of his potential, development from roleplayer to guinue forward mid but injury unfortunately has disappointed fans to date.

Expectations are high this year but due to injury/interrupted pre-season, it might be a slow start.

Love his work!

His kicking efficiency was higher than Nick Daicos’ last season but I doubt you’d use that to claim Nick Daicos isn’t an elite kick or that you’d prefer the ball in McCreery’s hands.

Patrick Lipinski only went one percent higher than McCreery. He’s also got our other small forwards in Elliott, Hill and Schultz well beat in this stat. Without looking at further example I’m quite confident his 66.4% kicking efficiency last season puts him on the higher end of most forward half players in the comp.

Beau could be a star.

My main query is whether he is professional enough and wants it bad enough?

Talent wise it is clearly there.

There was an article at some point last year that had Beau as the highest kick retention player in the comp when going i50. I think that was the week before or the same week as his injury (when we were also missing Lipinski iirc who was also very high on that list).
