Is it fantasy or tempting fate? but I really have strong positive feelings about picking up Ben Cousins. There are some good reasons .1. He is a father-son and did support us before being a WCE. 2. If he is HEALTHY, he would be virtually a fresh recruit . His age as a player should be balanced by the fact that he is physically 2 years younger. 3. Why should the Saints have his services--to replace Harvey. What about us-we lost a really good finisher in Prismall, and we do not have a player like him. Cuz could give our very predictable one paced brilliant midfield the finishing touch. 4. We should be thinking about the next 1-2 years before we lose our window of opportunity for a flag. In the next 5 yrs, expect Haw. Carl. and Ess to keep improving5. Cost? coming in by a draft, can Ben pick his team and his fee? I don't think so- he may be rapt to be given the chance to play in a team on the cusp of a flag, for any fee. 6. Tom and his cats have a proven track record looking after troubled players... Any thoughts?? Is it a fait accomplie that he goes to St. Kilda?

1. Cousins is not going to fit into the gap that Prismall left in the salary cap.
2. The Cat's midfield isn't an area of concern, the midfield is dominant enough as it is and we can blood other youngsters in the event that someone is injured.

This won't happen for the simple reason that Thompson develops his own players. Lean times ahead in the draft, it would be very short-sighted of clubs expecting future success to draft a 31 year old just so they can hear his hammies twang in about round 6.

Nathan Lovett would have looked better in our midfield.

Ahhhh that would be Andrew Lovett, not Nathan Lovett-Murray. And if we couldn't fit Andrew Lovett into the salary cap, I'm tipping Benny Cousins might be a tad harder. And lastly, how would Geelong infact even get to Cousins as there is 14 other sides before them in the PSD.
All sounds nice in a land of milk & honey but in the real world, not a chance in hell!!!

this old "Ben Cousins to Geelong" chestnut keeps coming up by some people, but really it just isn't going to happen. Time to move on. I am tipping the Saints will snaffle him up. We have no salary cap room and Bomber has been on record hundreds of times saying he prefers to develop young talent rather that recruit other teams cast offs.

I would not be surprised if Catman was correct on the St.Kilda thing. They do have a habit of picking up other club's rejects.

But as has been said before. Salary cap and not what we need.
