as an AFL footballer. I've stood up for plenty of our players over the years but with Davies I don't see it. I thought I'd post this after a win that way it looks less like a whinge, but in a tight game he cost us 2 goals in the first half, one to Nathan Lonie and the other to that brain fart of a fifty. All I keep hearing about is his "running power" which concerns me because Andrew Williams seemed to get a regular game on the back of his "ability" to run out games, but all I see are the turnovers or the misjudging of the flight of the ball only to be out marked or running into an open goal with no pressure and missing. Harry looks to have the goods and I think the club have erred in promoting the wrong rookie.

jeez isnt that a bit harsh for his first game back at afl this year, harry had a crap first game and now he has come good, despite peoples calls to drop him, hasnt played so much afl give him a chance, maybe after like 3 games in a row of doing that then yes i would agree.

I thought he looked alright. He needs some time in the big league to get the feel of it I believe. That fifty was pathetic, I was waiting for him to be dragged but Malthouse didn't, that I thought was a good thing because it would've shattered him. You could visibly see he was :D:D:D:Ded off about it, enough conviction for me.

A few games, and we'll see.

very harsh indeed. That was a horrible 50, but hes playing his first game in only his 2nd year of AFL footy. He did some good things also. Give him time surely

The 50 was pathetic? From my view the player clearly played on and Davies barely touched him anyway.

Eitherway, Davies needs time to find his place in the squad. When he was given enough time on the ground and in the middle/wings last year he averaged around 20 possies.

Swan is carving them up now, where was he 2/3 years ago? I'm not saying he will be a slow developer (showed enough last year), but he is waaaaay ahead of what Swan was this time in his career.

That was his eighth game and I'll challenge the statement that he is a neat footballer. In his last 4 games in 2005 he was averaging 20 disposals a game and eight marks but we were getting pumped and half the team was down. His kicking efficiency over those four games was a woeful 68% and thats simply not good enough. I went on the record early with Swan, he had something and is flying this year, but Davies isn't good enough and I fear never will be.

Neat is not the right word to describe him.
Knows how to get in space, runs hard, is quick and very hard at the footy.
Give him game time and he will get into it. He will be a real in and under accumulater. Disposal does need alot of work, but his vision is good which is hard to teach, there is no massive flaw in his kicking either. Certainly not as bad as Johnson or Licuria were.

I'm a long way from convinced about Davies. He isn’t a lost cause yet but it’s hard to see him being a top liner which is what we have to be searching for to replace Buckley, Burns and later Licuria. He could still end up a handy squad player.

The boy can run but lets face it, how easy is it to run into a bit of space, mark, then deliver it to another players in space 20 meters away? My concern is his lack of awareness and his inability to initiate play, and I have yet to see any contested possession skills which his 2005 27% (a woefully low figure) contested possession rate clearly indicates. So that combined with his 'Stephen Patterson' like tunnel vision doesn't put him in the long term footballer category for me, we have to do better.

Goes about his footy the way I like to see players go about there footy, but he won't be a regular this year. Know's how to find it and doesn't give up and can take a hit, his skills are a major con...he is similar to McGough, but has a tank.

I like Ben Davies...
I reckon he he has a future....lets be honest...he had so little to gain last week as he knew he'd be replacing Holland for 1 week only.
He came across that he'd been so wound up to impress and do well !!
He tried a bit too hard, if possible

Will be a player who will certainly be one of the 1st called if we lose an established midfielder top injury

Gee, the boy is 18 YEARS OLD! Give him a chance! I think he is going to be a very handy player, we are starting to see a lot fo depth in our list for the first time in a long time. When he gets the ball he runs the lines and is a confident kid! He will be alright....

Just correcting, he's 20 years old.

But I agree, some people just have personal vendettas against players and are willing to say anything to skew opinion one way or the other.
