Interesting point in today's tabloid:

While injuries have kept him out of the North Adelaide team this season...

Hmmmm, so after all his whinging and the angst and screaming on this board about the delist decision...

It was absolutely the right one.

Is Benny Hart actually playing for North Adelaide but has been injured all year?
If that is the case i did not realise that i knew he was thinking about it but i thought he ended up accepting the Adelaide Job.
Did he still get the Adelaide Job?

What sorts of injuries has he had?

-Ben

Hart has played 2 games this year, both against Central. He has a number of injuries the main ones being calf and ankle. He is also North's defensive coach and is doing a really good job with a very young backline and has introduced some new ideas which are working well.
I believe he took some sort of job with the Crows as well.

Hart eyes future

BEN Hart knows he is heading toward the crossroads.

Just more than six months after the 311-game defender was delisted from the Crows, Hart is now looking at where his future with football lies.

"It's something I am battling with at the moment," he said.

Hart, who is currently working in the Crows administration department as coterie services executive, still has a burning desire to be involved with football at a more active level.

While injuries have kept him out of the North Adelaide team this season, his time on the sidelines has helped him further develop his passion for coaching - a path he is interested in pursuing.

"I have got a big picture in my mind of how the game should be played," he said.

"The more experience I get from that side of things the better.

"I have definitely taken bits and pieces from each of my coaches and the things I think are most important have stuck with me. Hopefully I can have my own spin on it as well."

Hart admitted if the right coaching offer came around, especially in the AFL, he would most likely take up the opportunity.

"In the AFL you can't pick and choose, you have to take the chances you get," he said.

"If I can get my skills up and learn a little bit more about the coaching side of things, I might have something to offer.

"Hopefully when I throw my hat in the ring something will come up."

The 32-year-old said he would probably make a decision by the end of this year on what he will do.

"I might decide to go to a completely different area from football or I could try to focus a bit more on it," he said. "We'll just have to wait and see."

For his more immediate future Hart is looking forward to catching up with old team-mates from the Crows' 1997 premiership side.

On Thursday the Adelaide Football Club will host a Premiership Reunion dinner to commemorate the first time the Crows won the AFL's most coveted prize.

"That time (10 years) has gone so fast so it will be great to see how a lot of the guys are doing now," he said.

"You really don't get a chance to catch up too much so it will great to have a few drinks with them, not just to celebrate the Grand Final day but the whole year.

"It will be really interesting to see what a lot of the other have done in the past 10 years."

He still has the Adelaide job but was supposed to play on for the Roosters.

No idea about his injuries.

It is great to see Ben back with the Roosters but all he has done this year is prove that Craigy made the right decision to delist him because of his ageing body.

Funny how the critics of the decision in the media have gone quiet about it all. Bonehead is quick to make these comments abut Clarke being retained etc and how Adelaide in his opinion made a mistake yet he wont admit himself that he made a mistake in his comments about the cutting of Hart.

The only thing that disappointed me about Ben Hart's delisting last year was Ben forcing it into a delisting rather than a retirement surrounded by accolades and tributes.

Sadly Ben refused to accept reality and downgraded his departure from the game at AFL level, when Adelaide's decision was subsequently supported by his not being drafted.

The AFC decision was based on the state of Ben's body and has been only re-inforced by Ben's current spate of injuries.

A sad ending to the playing days of one of Adelaide's greatest ever players.

Yeah you are spot on there.

His comments on Clarke are ridiculous too.
What has Clarke been doing at Saint Kilda anyway? He's been injured a fair bit and as far as i have seen Griffin has done a more than servicable job as back up ruckman.

The adelaide crows were going no where with Clarke there. It was exactly the right time for him to go.

I don't see how McDermott can keep on saying that we should have kept Clarkey!

Bone is a big one for club loyalty ... but we are now in a professional footy environment, where tough decisions, like retiring players such as Hart & Clarke (though he moved) before they want to, for the betterment of the club's list development.

i'm sensing a lot of homo vibes in here...

in the end, the club was exactly right getting rid of harty and clarkey, yes they were great servants of the game (and don't forget that matty "retired" for a few weeks) but the time was right for them to move on, matt could see it, benny unfortunately couldn't let go..

I do wonder when McDermott will get tired of being wrong for the sake of the media spotlight and go back to his more charitable roles which he does so well.
He brings up weak seemingly regurgitated opinions and allows himself to be presented in such a way that he is ripe to look very foolish when his comments don't stick.
