Has anyone else's opinion of Dutchy changed over the past few weeks?

I know it's only a couple of great games but he has been showing that he really is giving it everything and it's paying off 7 goals in his past 2 games is a great way to end his season. Let's hope he can keep Rocca to 1 disposal like the Queens Birthday if he gets the job.

What are other peoples opinions on Holland and what hes shown these past few weeks? Should we keep him? I personally think we should give him and Pickett another year.

Both he and Pickett should be given another year, but they shouldn't be under any impression that they're going to be first choice players every week.

At least Holland gives 100% every time. If we were to give him the arse and keep Miller and his 25% efforts I'd lose it.

I don't think Holland has done anything in the last few weeks we didn't already know he could do, although his kicking for goal has looked a bit more steady than in the past.

He is not a bad depth player but then we have loads of those, he and Pickett both may get another year.

if we can trade him (for anything) - i'd be on it.

We can keep him for another year to have another big body - just to wait for Newton and Frawley to put some kegs on.

I think He'll be kept.
Big body for some roles down back. Can go forward and gets plenty of shots at goal.
If only his kicking for goal was much better.
Good depth player for 10 to 15 games next year.
Yes he always does give 100% effort.
Miller is the question mark for new coach. Miller is 80 plus game player. What to do?

Miller has slipped back down the pecking order and should now be behind all bar Warnock in terms of our tall KPP players.

Even Ferguson showed a little bit last night.

On the topic of underrated players surely somebody else noticed Wheatley was on fire last night? He has been (relatively) sensational the last few weeks for somebody who was all but written off.

Wheatley has been great for us this year in the games hes played, love his booming long bombs they are sensational.

Has been consistent all season since coming back from injury. Don't think he was on fire last night, he turned the ball over a few times in a row (i think 2nd or 3rd quarter) but his defensive work in the last half of the game was very good and he seemed to really want the ball. I heard Mark Riley talking about what he has done better than ND and he said he wouldn't comment but there has been a focus on contested ball, and last night we really did well at winning contest.
Must remember that Wheats is only 26 so is not finished and had terrible luck with injuries last year so could be a real improver under a new coach.

I'm glad there is a post about Holland because i've noticed it myself. He has grown another leg.

Weve tendered to play him for most of his career as a backman with cameo's up forward, but it's up forward where he is showing a bit.

He has been much maligned by Dee supporters but he is playing for his career and good on him.

Very popular figure at the club. Really is now playing for the team and not himself

I Disagree. Until about 3/4 of the way through 2005 he was always up front. I'd tend to think it was the other way around - we've played him as forward with defensive cameos.

Maybe so Super, but when was playing as a forward it was as a second fiddle to Neita. Now he is becoming a focal point. With his strong build and hands so he should be.

He did towel up Rocca earlier this year so I wonder where he will play this Week ?

Was drafted to Melbourne to be the big full back we needed but Rivers and Nicho were doing well in 04. So we played him up forward where he could usually get his hands on it a couple of times and did nice things like put blocks on for Neitz and ruck the forward line. However he usually ended up kicking something like 1.3 or 2.4 except against the saints when he kicked 5 one day.

Then we finally got rid of Nicho, and Rivers, Carroll and occasionally Ferg weren't bad in the backline until we faced monster like Rocca. So the big fella went down there and battled on well. The problem was he is no match for quick big types like Gehrig and so playing him down there was really just hindering the development that we need to put into Carroll as our full back and Rivers and now hopefully Frawley.

So the big fella spent most of this year at Sandringham with a star effort against Rocca on QB before being given another chance to strut his stuff in the last few weeks. I hope he continues to get a good send off for the rest of this year, bagging a few goals along the way, before his farewell in round 22.

Split him in half that's all he'll need to beat Rocca and put the other half up forward :p

I thought you hated Holland? At Least thats what you told me. Have you changed your mind?

The effort and heart he's been showing these past few weeks is enough to change everyones and anyones mind.

Holland :thumbsu:

I always thought he was Ok. I go to the footy with TripleDee and he always goes off about him. My self I would swap power for him.

Being an ex-Tiger what I do know about him is that he always give it everything he has and has a great build and pair of hands.

He's slow and not the most mobile player but his big build can really be handy up forward and for the slowish big forwards. A pretty good depth player if you ask me.

I go off at Holland because his kicking for goal is unreliable especially close to goal.
His effort is first rate. He tries his heat out which I really like in a player. A player may not be good enough to beat his opponent but by golly he can still put the effort in to run, chase, tackle and get into position, present on the lead etc, etc. You don't need talent to put the effort in.
Holland puts the effort in.
To answer your question.Clubs simply can only delist so many players each year and I privately believe a few other players are ahead of Holland to be delisted.
If new coach decides to cut more than say 5 or 6 players I think Holland will be delisted.

Cheers

Mate you would swap any footballer you could get for Sam Power. I know you can't stand him.
Anyway Holland for Power is not enough. With dogs having no KPP you would have to use a second round pick to get Holland at very least. Maybe more the way Holland deestroyed your skinny, short backline last week.HaHa.

See you for Neita's 300th
