Love Johnno, he's such an underrated player in our team. His run and carry is vital to us. You could tell we missed it last week.

There'll probably still be calls for him to be dropped though:rolleyes:

He is a terrible shut down defender and he always has been, he was the main culprit of our inability to shut down small forwards (together with Lockyer) in the past. Thank god we rectified it.


Johnson has never clearly beaten any of those guys. Seriously, you need to take the blinkers off.

Played every well defensively when given jobs on Rioli, Peterson, and a few others at times of the match, but I'll admit he was better rebounding off half back, and probably had as many inside 50's as anyone on the ground in the first half.

On tonight's performance I admit his best position isn't as a tagger or defensive player, but I still know he can play that role if needed.

Worked very well with Heater tonight, those 2 just love playing next to each other.:thumbsu:

Apparently bagging Jono gives posters leniency in the way they post. Defending him though...

Jono was sensational tonight... but by wednesday, alot of posters on this site will be calling for him to be dropped again:D

He never went anywhere near Rioli (not that I noticed anyway), H had him virtually all night. I dunno what the problem is though, I was happy to see him back in the team this week, I said as much in the changes thread when he got named.

My posts in this thread weren't to insinuate he shouldn't be in the team at all, rather just that if he playing as a shut down defender then he shouldn't, which I think most would agree with.

He was really good again tonight, just as he was in the first 2 rounds. I couldn't be any happier with him at the moment tbh, but surely you can see his best work tonight was done when he was given some latitude to break the lines.

Edit: Also my initial posts probably read a bit more aggressively than I intended, didn't mean to offend, sorry Matty.

Having a crack at someone like you did whilst being a negative against Jono seems ok... defending him with a similar style of posting earns me a card.

Nothing personal - and no you don't deserve a card... I'm just sick and tired of people bagging Jono and have been sick of it for a long time. But week in week out, people say Jono can't do this or that and they'd rather drop Jono for someone else... Post like this are getting tired and (I feel very) un-intelligent.

Anyone who says Jono should be dropped from any form this year proves how little they know about football. I know you weren't saying that, but having a crack at someone as if they live in bubblegum world or whatever it was... would be frowned upon if it was in support of that player:rolleyes:

That's fair enough, I didn't read the post you got carded for so I can't comment, I generally find our mods are pretty good though. This is certainly a far more positive board compared to the other independent Pies forums I find.

Anyway, Johnno has stuck it up me so far this year, I've made no secret about my dislike of him in the past, but he is giving me a pasting at this stage and I couldn't be any happier about it.
I don't care who it is that's doing it for us, just as long as our boys are doing well :thumbsu:
 
Johnno has his side step back and his quick back peddle and push forward. But will it be enough to get rid of Leigh Brown? Can anyone get rid of Leigh Brown?
