I did not call him a match winner, but stated that the tackle probably won us the match. Don't misquote me. Yes it was 6 years ago, and I was just trying to point out that we should remember the good and not only the bad.
Everyone here loves sticking their boots in.
In the end it will be Malthouse and the match committee that will select the side and not the experts from this board.
Most likely you will find Ben Johnson in the side.
He is not my favorite player and I do know his deficiencies, but I am stating my opinion of what will happen.
Most of you here were probably bagging Leon Davis a few years ago and Medhurst before he even put a Collingwood jumper on.
If Johnson has a good season, all of you will be in his band wagon.

One poor season and the knives are out. Truth is if you really look at his stats for last year.. it being a poor one for Johno in the eyes of many with 16 games he still managed to finish ninth average disposals.

He did well in most other areas except tackles...

You forget then that his poor second quarter almost cost us that match. Three turnovers and two dropped sitters.

For what it is worth, I think he is in the range of players from 20-24ish to get picked, and therefore will get his chance sooner rather than later with blokes like Stanley, Dawes, McCarthy, etc.

I dunno did anyone read the article on the collingwood website. I know they were probably just trying to pump him up but they said he was training the house down and from what he said It sounded like he was very keen on repaying the faith

But it's not 1 poor season. FWIW i like Johnson and i think he adds a bit to the team, but he has too many deficiencies to be an effective footballer nowadays. He's far too one sided, fairly poor defensive skills and isn't very good one on one. I think he should be in the side from rd 1 but as Smiddazz said (i think) if the kids aren't pushing him out by around rd 7 i'll be quite disapointed.
