The bigger question for Gold Coast is why do their players who are wanted by rival clubs (which happens to all other 17 AFL clubs) want to leave when pursued. I thought the Gold Coast was supposed to be the place to be in Australia yet given the chance few want to stay. Sydney has no trouble keeping their talent.

Maybe just maybe the real reason Gold Coast lose all their talent is because the club has no soul with no background. Made up club and essentially a franchise of the AFL brand. Tiny supporter base that attends probably because they are given free tickets. Club is probably propped up by the AFL just to remain viable.

I like watching Gold Coast play and i do like what they are trying to achieve. They certainly do have heart but that's where the positives end.
The Goldie is really a bit of an overrated shit hole.
Having said that I’m actually popping down next month for a game.

Or we draft him at pick 9 in the 2006 draft for the reason that Gherig was going to be done within a few years and that Jacks peak years would start as Nick's golden years were about to fade. Still makes me grumble when I see Jack play as he should have been ours. There's your two for no cost other than Armo.

We could have got Barlow instead of Armitage and hardly noticed the difference ( except Barlow could have made an impact in 2009/2010 ), and as you said, drafted Jack. The two Riewoldt's different playing styles would have been complimentary i believe.

Getting will offset all the father sons we dont have. Once in a generation 200cm gun twins roaming forward line or back or in the ruck. Enjoy the ride its gonna be epic.
You mean tide us over for 13-15 years until the next 3 great st Kilda hopes are coming through?

100% I think there's an element of this

GC went into this eyes wide open in a similar manner to Freo on Weller/Cerra, GWS on McCarthy

they took a punt they would either:
1) convince him to stay
2) get a return on investment through draft collateral.

And just think, at the end of their careers, Max and Ben will be able to mentor and share a forward line with James Riewoldt, with Hunter Hayes hitting them up from the middle.

Is Hayes’ son really called Hunter? that’s an awesome name. Hunter Hayes.

You obviously haven't spent any time there...

Yeah it's like Franston on a Saturday night on a bigger scale. Goldy has nice bits but more of it is a bogan wonderland than a place you'd want to hang out at.

I’ve said it before, but Gold Coast had picks 2 & 3 in the 2018 draft and should have drafted the twins. Then both lads would have been there for life.

Max was drafted at pick 4 Ben at pick 6, but both weren’t a “reach” at picks 2 & 3. In fact, the package of drafting both boys should have boosted their value.

Drafting an identical twin (Ben), whose sibling (Max) was drafted by the club they had both supported all of their lives, in their home state, close to the family home, was always going to be a huge risk. I think the Suns did well to re-sign Ben at the end of 2019. It’s very unlikely they can keep him long term.

Speaking of the 2018 draft.

How good was it when the dodo creamed his jeans over irving mosquito at 38, leaving jack bytel for us at 41?

It would be awesome, and for those complaining of the draft cost - a first round pick isn’t a guarantee of a great player, we’ve burnt enough in recent memory to know that for a fact, so using two to secure the service of a player we know will at least be above average isn’t such a high cost. In my opinion.

I know how negative this sounds, but with St Kilda luck I’ve got the feeling those 3 will become absolute star MVPs in the NFL or NBA lol.

It would be fantastic if the Kings had quad boys each and they were all father sons. Although a couple of singles after the quads would be good to spread the talent.

Hope the King boys both play 300 games for us and breed like Rabbits!
I had a dream that Max King and Georgia Patrikios had some babies. That’s ****ing good footy genes right there.

Like a lot of places it was once a lot better but it always had that element as well.

Now if you want some sun, surf and fun for a week then it’s a good choice but that’s about it. In its defence though you could put Noosa and many other places into the great little place ruined category imo.
