According to the official VFL website, Ben Raidme has played every game this season and been named in Geelong's best players (which are always ranked from one to six) in seven out of eleven games.

That's outstanding form and consistently.

How old is he?

23 next month

He deserves a shot on the AFL list but I wouldn't think the club would be interested in him as he doesn't really fulfill an area we are short in. I hope that he gets drafted at years end by somebody and makes the most of the opportunity. Would be a good pick up for GC who could do with some more mature bodies to take the heat off their young guns.

haven't seen him play, but i think that with the GC and GWS raping this year's draft before other clubs even get a pick, there'll be plenty of clubs looking at mature players, particularly given the form of podsiadly and barlow. but for recruiters it's all about potential, and i think more often than not mature players in the state leagues don't have the potential to improve.

hard to know if we'd be interested in him - potentially we could be looking at ablett leaving and milburn, wojcinski, mooney, scarlett, ling, rooke and ottens all retiring (yes, that's absolute worst case scenario). we might look at mature bodies players to come in

It seems mature agers are the flavour of the month.

I think that's because 1) through necessity with the compromised drafts and 2) clubs have for some unknown reason overlooked talented, older players who for one reason or another slipped through the system earlier on. Not to mention they are ready made in terms of size and can slip right in if they are up to the level, unlike so many skinny kids.

Raidme has been good this year and probably deserves a shot at the next level. Whether we look at him I would think largely would depend on how many picks we have, if we only have 1 or 2 (i.e. if we elevate pods and maybe one other, and keep the rest) then probably not, but if we take more picks I could see him being one of them, ala Johnson.

Hope he gets a shot somewhere if we don't take him.

Simpkin has also been really good this year, and never really got a shot when he was at Sydney, so I hope he gets a go on a list somewhere as well.

By the sounds of it, he's been playing as a tagger. Seems like a good replacement for Ling in a year or two. Consistent and improved VFL form over two years could equate to an early rookie selection or even earlier?
