seeing this boy play in the practice, matches watching the way he moves i think he has all the tools to be our version of a buddy franklin. i hope they don't ruin him by pushing him into the ruck

I think he is capable of being a great marking forward, however he was selected as a KPP/ruckman. Is still a kid, and can potentially grow as tall as a McKee, but has good jump. Will be used sparingly as a back up ruckman no doubt.

Dawes was the drafted key forward.

he never played ruck in the18's there is a lot of technique involved. i would perfer dawes as the key stay home forward with reid as your floating type and at his height and mobility hard to stop

Buddy Franklin? He's an athletic freak!

More like another Travis Cloke, but with a bit more pace. Doesn't have much freak, but his height, pace, marking and (hopefully) reliable kicking should see him prove to be a difficult match up for the oppo in time.

If Fraser and Richards continue their injury ridden form of recent years, and if Bryan remains at his lowly VFL standard of last season, we may ave no choice but to throw a youngster like Reid, Brown or T Cloke into the ruck.

Talk of fast-tracking Chopper:

Gives you an insight as to what we drafted him for. MM said defence was what our original plan was, but we'll have to consider him as a forward option.

Pretty lanky looking forward line with Chop-Chop, T-Clo and Frase, but they'd all be irritating match-ups. Throw in some hard bodies like Rock & Bucks, and with Daisy, Leon, Daks. Eags & Swan always flowing through, our forward line may still have potency, despite the loss of Ruz & Tarrant.

The Kid is going to be a gun! He will be a Franklin/Kouta type player.. We effectively traded Taz for Reid & in the long run I believe it is going to br a master trade for our boys!

i opened with that sediment and was shot down unmercifully

The beauty about ben reid is his pace his height and his ability to play in so many positions so we really dont know at this stage of his career where he is likely to play but that just adds to the question..... where will he play down the track? I dont care where he plays as long as he has a long and succesfull career. Go Pies.:)

From what Ive seen he is a slightly more mobile Josh Fraser but can actually hold marks above his head

Josh seems to have 'little man' skills though..not sure if Chopper does

We'll see

Lanky? I don't think so...

Hi guys. Just wondering what you guys think of Ben? Read about hi in H/Sun Friday but is he to light? Will he play a big role? Will he play at all?

Moved your post into this thread, seeing as it was right on the front page...

As for whether he's too light - He's apparently up to 90kg now, which is a lot better than the 84kgs that he was drafted at, and should be good enough for him to play a pinch-hitting role.

He won't be expected to wrestle with monsters with Anthony Rocca, Nathan Buckley and Travis Cloke in the forward line, so his role would more likely be as a floating mobile half-forward.

OK Thanx.

Played most at CHB. 6 KG is a lot of weight to put on. If he keeps this growth up he will be fantastic for you guys. Thankyk you for your input
