Three questions.
Now that Swanpool couldnt beat Tatong.
Will this mean that Swanpool wont win a game for the year?? Again............
As Broady Doon are winning by so much.
Is it now just a case of seeing who they will beat in the Grand Final??
Does Longwood or Goorambat really want to make the Grand Final just to be embarrassed??
Best case senario would be to finish 3rd flog Tatong, win the Preliminary Final to finish on a winning note then forfeit the Grand Final. Give Broady Doon the opportunity to win the Grand Final without playing the game. Wouldnt that finish of the B&D with style????

i counted 4 questions... which one do you want to withdraw..?

Well with one game to go in the first round of the teams playing each other it looks like Doon has the premiership in the bag (just as well cause there is no money there!!!) Goorambat has come back to the field or has the field caught up? Tatong doubled numbers up in the first 2 weks but on the weekend played much better against the Swannies who finished well. Swanpool will win a game this year but will it be enough to get off the bottom and as for Longwood so far they have the numbers but they do not seem to be all that impressive to be a contender. I think at this stage there are only two definites for the finals Doon and Gbat......

Might be right but also may be a little prem. Longwood & Goorambat have only been beaton by Doon, who are easily early favorites by a long shot. As Doon have recruited so well its hard to say that Goorambat have come back. Wouldnt think that you can say the field has caught up yet. Longwood are the interesting ones, this week will show if there is a definite or not. They look to have recruited well (with numbers at least) but if they get thumped by Goorambat at home I couldnt see them being a threat come finals.
Cant see where Swanpools win will come from. But hey the Demons won on the weekend!

Hey Doona .. Looks like CD is on the Doggies train.
With the Tony Coffee Mocca coming back from Greece to dig more stuff out of the slopes .. of Money Doon, ‘sgunna be a big nebulous premiership maybe.
A big bear walked into the Bonnie Doon footy bar .. which serves great soup, pies and a VB beer .. and said “May I have a JB and … wait for it! .. with coke..!
The barman said. “Why the big pause?”
Why do ask? Said the Bear. “Had em all me life” he said.
Now let me hear some more shite!
I could see CD at the White Hart in Longwood, joining in the premiership celebrations. CD is not a horse’s arsk, he is the horse .. and as he walks in to order a drink, the barman says .. “why the long face”!!
Purile shite maybe .. but the game and the day; and the night, at Redlegs Stadium on May 10 against the Batters is going to be top stuff. Get to the Stadium if you can because there’s no AwFuL footy on until the Mousekeeters play at night.
By then Longwood will be rockin’ to band on truck!:)
You and Girly Girl make a great team Veggie Man. there hasnt been a post of any quality between the two of you.
With all the names popping up on the Longwood transfer in list have you too joined Broady Doon with their expenditure of coin?
Interesting to note a couple of things though Veggie Man. Transfers in include players from Apollo Bay, Sunbury, Yea, Broadford, Sale, Kangaroo Flat, Alexandra and DeLalle. Not what you would call building a list from a local base. Does your club really think they can survive with players from so far?
Is Longwood and Bonnie Doon doing all they can to bring the end to the B&D. As I cant see Longwood being able to sustain a competitive side in the KDFL and the option of the O&K will involve too much travel if your club kills the B&D you will be killing your own club.
If the B&D dissapears so to will Swanpool, Tatong and Longwood.

Are you seriously suggesting it's Longwood or Bonnie Doon's fault that this league is about to die? You have got to be joking.

Some of the clubs that left the league earlier and are struggling in their current league have contributed to the demise as much or more than anyone. Glenrowan and All Blacks are two that come to mind.

Also, where is Longwood supposed to get their players from? They've always had to cast a wide net to get players.

A lot of the in's at Longwood aint near the calibre of Broady Doon's, but Finch has assembled a list to ensure two full sides a week which is today's footy climate is at times an achievement in itself. If many of those blokes r getting a quid Id be very surprised.

Numbers r strong at Avenel Im told and some of those boys can't train (or wont) which makes it hard to give em a 2's game each week, unsure about the Nagambie inclusions situation ( you still log on Solman??). The Yea blokes (Milliken, Stephens, Gilbee, Crispin) hadn't played there for at least year or two (or three). Jimmy Stephens was a 2003 premiership midfielder, with Ben Milliken the other senior standard player to head over but will only play a handful Im told.

BTW checked the LFC website and must say the report from the Broady Doon clash was a good read :thumbsu:

Im saying that from where Im looking it looks as though Bonnie Doon are and from what the Veggie Man is saying Longwood may be looking to move on to anouther League. If either one of those clubs leaves the B&D where does that leave the remaining clubs?
If they are looking else where they have got it wrong. They should be looking at getting anouther team or two to join the B&D. Try to build it up slowly.

The quotes keeping saying clubs are leaving.I have heard that at least 2 clubs close by have approached BDFL and asked the question about joining in order to survive. Both from O & K.
I believe Longwood asked the question to the KDFL of what they would have to do to be able to join but wont be able to field an Under 18's side which is a prerequisite to join the league.

Interesting comment on the O&K clubs GG, prepared to identify them

I wouldnt think so. He isnt one to back up much of his post with fact. Though it was different for him not to come out swinging at me.
Ill go out on a limb and say Benall All Blacks and Glenrowan. Both seem to have a lot to do with the B&D.

You poor misguided fool.....
Well arnt you a petty little dikwad!
Who else is he talking about?
You All Blacks??
If you are it might be time for you blokes to get your heads out of your arse and have a look where your at. How many games have you blokes won in the last 10 years? O&K is not that strong of a league and the only team you can beat is Glenrowan.
If I was Benalla All Blacks or Glenrowan I would have a good look at the two Leagues and make an educated desision. Stay in a League where teams are openly talking of merger and struggling for numbers or join a League where the clubs are working so hard for survival.
Add two teams to the B&D and watch how quickly the league grows in 5 years time!

Regardless of the fact that i think Cellar dweller is a negative twat, i do have to make the comment that the guy can and regularly does make a good point especially about the fate of the B&D. Alot of hard work has been put into the operation of this leahue over the years and it would be a real shame to witness the leagues demise. I'm sure we are all aware of the fact that it isn't anywhere near the strongest league around but the fact it that the B&D has an awesome family atmosphere and im one who would be really sad and disheartened by the VCFL if the league does fold.

For all the doom and gloom surounding the league now I would think you would find the clubs in the B&DFL have been working very hard for themselves over the years. If there was more vision by the clubs to work together for the better of the league and not each club concertrating on themselves the league may have achieved something years ago. How long has the league been six or less clubs and what have the clubs done together to strengthen the league. I might be wrong, so if anyone has imformation in what they have tried to do let me know.

Carrot I hear that Dean Rice will be at the game Sat. He might be still registered any chance of Finchy getting him to throw some boots on?

Just like Ardmona and Merrigum at present, who do not field Under 18's?

For the KDFL & perhaps the BDFL (if they got them running) to have decent numbers in the 3rds the SDJFL and the Benalla Unders comp needs to reduce their amount of divisions.

PDFL & MFL footy thrives on their juniors (under 17's and under 14's) and their juniors play for the town team, not for their school. This doesn't appear to be the case down here. Just something that I have noticed since playing for a team closer to Seymour.

Hey Dodgie .. Dean's signed jumper from the 80's is still on the wall so if he can fit into it he's in. Bluey Shelton will also be there (won his first trophy at Longwood and starred as a premiership CHB for Essendon in the 60's.)
See you there..

To other bloggers .. let's just manage by facts.
The B&DFL have tried to have VCFL approval for thirds since the start of 2006. VCFL said sort it out with Benalla Junior League. BJL not prepared to negotiate (as it's a feeder to the Saints) VCFL washed their hands of it.
The VCFL have wanted the "demise" of the B&D for the past few years and this year have DECREED that the league will end this season, 2008.
In March they facilitated a meeting where the O&K INVITED all B&D Clubs to join the O&K next year- thirds optional.
King Valley will merge with Greta and if all B&D clubs go then it will be a tidy 14 team league in 2009. Glenrowan and All Blacks have absolutely no intention of re-joining the B&D.
Competitiveness after survival will be a matter of "que sera sera"!
For Longwood it will mean another 30 minutes travel up the freeway with the outlook on Bright debated earlier.
No more of this rubbish about Doon and Longwood destroying the B&DFL. Such uninformed waffle.
Forget the Vegies this week. Special is Farm fresh eggs on the Ovens Highway on the Wang side of Tarrawingee. $2.40 per dozen.
Cheers
John Carrot:)

Where the f#*k do you get off cellar dweller? You have continuously bagged the BDFL and happierly talked up it's demise since your first post on here. You have constantly stated that BDFL clubs should be looking elsewhere as the league is doomed. Now all of a sudden because the redlegs and doon are apparently looking at other options your saying they have got it wrong. So what do you actually mean cd? Do you have any idea what your talking about? Click on cds profile and check all his previous posts fellow posters and a pattern emerges, a pattern of cynicism and critisim spread over about 6 leagues. CD your a ________

Fair enough about moving on JC, and the VCFL may have decided that the BDFL is not sustainable.

But there was never any way that you could have a thirds competition in the BDFL and it would not have helped the league survive. You can blame the VCFL for a lot of things (and I would hardly ever stick up for them), but a third eighteen comp was never going to happen successfully in this league.

Can you seriously argue that Longwood could have run a thirds side?
