Did Swanpool beat Longwood?
I was of the opinion Swanpool were crap!
Tatong had a good win over Goorambat. Must be a mental advantage to know that your home team is folding.
Im thinking Broady Doon might not win the flag this year as long as who ever plays them is prepared to step up and physically give them a floggin. Im told Doon dont mind hitting from behind and when the opposition isnt looking but are weak when taken on.
and how many games of broady doon have you watched this year c.d

This Thread is dieing a slow nd painfull death

Hopefully it gets a second win then, like the comp itself perhaps??? Spoke with 1-2 of the Broady Doon boys this weekend who mentioned a possible team or two from the O&K might join the BDFL in 2009, any truth???

[/B]

Absolutely no chance of that happening Doona

I thought as much, although it's always nice to be optimistic of a saving grace of some way, shape or form. Has there been a decision one way or another as to whats gunna hapen at seasons end???

B&D are apparently going to approach a few clubs about (re) joining but none are interested. More than likely things will remain the same.

Two points Slim and Doona
VCFL don't care re BDFL and certainly won't approve All Blacks and Glenrowan coming back.
It would bring the O&K back to 8 teams and with Bright (possibly with Myrtleford 2010) and King Valley/Greta talk of merger there is no way the powers will let it happen.
Secondly, the talk at Wangaratta is that Glenrowan won't go back to the BDFL because they would have no players. Rather to be done in the O&K with an odd win than beaten by Longwood by 50 goals like in the eighties .. eh?
Cheers

JC you may be able to answer a question for me, I heard that Longwood were interested in going to the KDFL for a while and then changed their mind and were going to apply to the O&K. 1. Where are they at and 2. Why the change of direction

Seems to be quite a lot going against Longwood now. They obvously dont have the depth and strenght to match it with a stronger comp. And travel would be a huge obsticle.
Option 1 - keep the B&D alive with 5 sides
Option 2 - fold
Anything else, tell them their dreaming!!

KDFL would have been a good option. Issue of playing without 3rds and generating enough money though. Looking at the way the club is situated now, it might be 1 or 2 years too late.

G’day Slim
As CD said, quoting the late John Laws, “keep the dream alive!’ I know Laws is not dead but he looks it..
So many if, buts and maybes in the Benalla league .. and no-one official is coming out to make an announcement. Can the BDFL survive with 5 or less? Doubt it mate. Doon haven’t spent their pennies to hang around and Tat are really struggling. Leggers are ok $ wise, but treading water in what this comp has become. Would really prefer to stay BDFL, but if one team folds/goes then the League goes with it.
Longwood have considered options for the last two years in preparation for the sword of the vcfl to fall but nothing (has)/can happen until after the end of 2008 and definitely not before the end of October. Dems de rules.
Personally, I would love to see struggling teams come back to the Benalla League but the corporatisation of footy; which I saw start in 1971 when a loser coach demanded and got an excessive stipend from Longwood for a losing coaching performance (as he played for Coburg), has stuffed it all. This clown, bytheway, who’s initials were Lance Ricky, also wanted to change the Redlegs nickname to the Bullants! If he’d suggested Pissants then maybe he would have an audience.
I know what Longwood is like without footy, as they merged in 1959 to reform in 1970. So do many others at Redlegs Stadium and they want the Club to continue.

We can only wait and see what the next two months brings .. but for Cripes sake! Could somebody in charge of country football let us all know!!
Cheers

( Stuff the vegies .. rump at $12 a kilo at the Edward’s Street butcher. As Shane Warne , tongue-in-cheek, said to Brendan Fevola .. “Why go out for hamburger when you can taste the best steak at home!!”);)

So really everyone is dependant on Tat making their intentions known sooner rather than later
