From what I heard Daniher struggles in the Bendigo forward line and doesn't look comfortable. I could see Hurley becoming a key forward but I dunno.

Has a bit of a problem playing FF. Has struggled a bit with the lead up role.
He is howevr a very good half forward and played a lot of good footy for Calder (and a couple of games for Bendigo last year) at CHF.
Seems to play the mobile CHF/HF role a lot better than a FF role.
He actually played more as a CHF/HFF during his time at Calder. He was only really used in defence if they had a problem in the back half or injuries to their normal defenders.
He played half forward in the TAC GF.

With the roadblock of gaining good players to the club, could we lure some of these kids mentioned in one of the above posts by giving them something to aim for, something similar to that of the Western Bulldogs alignment with Williamstown, and the rookie based contract that Liam Picken gained, after several seasons of consistant footy, 'the gulls' offered to pay something in the line of $25,000 of Pickens first year rookie wage, as they thought that he could have a real crack at a senior spot on an AFL list after really showing his peers something via a rookie contract, could be something that young Stuart Crameri could be a possibility of, as he has played some reasonable football for the 'bombers' for at least three seasons, if some of these kids who missed the system (Brodie A'Vard springs to mind) then it could give them something to aim at, Williamstown is looking to pay for another 'gulls' player in Patrick Rose to see if he could have a real crack at a Bulldogs list for next year, just some initiatives we could put in place for these players we are luring, with the idea of paying for some of these kids tafe/uni courses, we could be setting back us Bombers supporters something in the order of up to half a million dollars as it would be us paying for these courses which can cost up to $20,000 dollars for a uni course. So paying for these players which would only improve our development side (VFL) is a big ask of us the AFL following members.

Any thoughts on initiatives or ideas on bringing players to our side??

Can tell you that Crameri did train with Essendon over the summer and only just missed out on the rookie call up this time around (speak to his mother regularly on Bomberblitz and at Bendigo games). The club are certainly looking at that scenario above as a real option, in light of the GC17 situation.

People who are suggesting throwing Hurley into a key forward, as good as he could be there, Hurley and Pears are formidable down back, and could work very well together, they are the pick of the 4 (Including Hooker and Daniher). I'd probably be trying to move Daniher up forward, as i really don't see him being a backman for us. I was impressed with Hooker last year in the VFL as a forward, really looked to be a natural forward, not a 'key' forward type, but more a Mitch Hahn type.

I'm happy for Hooker to be as a CHB from now on...it's a natural spot for him. Hurley is going to be a good choice as a CHF down the track and that Daniher and Neagle would be the other 2 tall forwards.

Thanks to the OP for posting this on the main board as I dont have the time to delve too much into BF. Fantastic thread on the current plight of the bombers, we until Lloyd replacement randomly showed up...

Does anyone else find it amusing that Jacko has gone the cost cutting route for all these years and now with the GFC, he is looking to open the wallet. While he has given us fantastic financial results over that period it has definately cost us in other areas.

Yeah, I like the look of Crameri, a solid half back/back pocket type, strong in the hips, and a decent user of the ball, what about young Stroobants, a solid small forward type, is smart around goals and uses the ball nicely.

I think this scholarship type incentive will become increasingly popular through the success of Liam Picken at the Western Bulldogs, although some may fail, with a winner being first up, the plight of the rookie may continue.

There's been a few bob up over the last couple of years.

James Bristow (#19) is somewhat of a cult figure with that peroxide blonde hairdo he's got, but, his ability as a KP/Ruck has been noticed.

Keep an eye out for Stacey Fiske (#48)...kicked a lazy 4 against Geelong 2 weeks ago, but, suffered an injury last week. Knows where the goals are.

Have liked the look of him, just not sure he would be able to tep it up in AFL games, as at times he can become lazy, does seem to be strong around the ground and can get a few kicks too.

Fiske I have heard good reports about, but have been unable to watch him in person, seems a likely type from all reports.

From the dozen or so matches I have seen of Bristow he makes Courtney Johns look like Wayne Carey.
