With the talk coming out of Gisborne it would take one of the all time great u turns for them to play in Bendigo next season
Two questions if the choice comes to a great club not playing would the AFL back down and what happens if there’s no Gisborne and Broadford don’t get up does everyone play each other three times?
No clubs doing that jack

Strong mail if Caz and the Sandhurst board get ousted then the Slags will look to join the GV. Sets them apart, high standard and leaves the comp for dead. Dont discount this happening …
Thats an empty threat to try keep the ledger sandhurst based on the board. Sandhurst would need a home ground, theyd have greater travel, theyd be a minority voice in the gv, and no home grand final

"If AFL Vic wants to come in run the club, pay all the bills, get all the sponsorship in, do everything else, no worries.
‘They say it’s best for the Bendigo league, but what is best for our club?
“Bendigo doesn’t own us. Our members do! “
Strong words from the Gisborne President

Don’t forget we’re not going to play in Bendigo it’s as simple as that

Response will be that the club is entitled to do what it wants but if wanting to play an afl vic affiliated club they’ll be doing so in the Bendigo league .

Clubs and leagues need to separate from afl Victoria and go back to clubs representing and running the leagues.
Get people who understand club land, what have the hubs offered??
Points system that is not helping lower clubs and salary cap that is laughed at.

I know it’s probably not supported but country football and

Can someone point me to where the
AFL Vic has actually released a statement.
I can only see a press release from
Bendigo Football League.
Ballarat Football League.
Gisborne Football Club .

Making a decision without giving reasons is a denial of natural justice.

One would think that act in itself would be looked at unfavorably by any review court.

In short what are there options now with Ballarat League being off the table?
1) Suck it up and play in Bendigo
2) Sit the year out
3) Fold and restart a new club under a new name
4) Any others??

Read the thread - there’s another option

Ironically , those that have in the past were scolded for doing so .

Think the appeals system is flawed - it has essentially sided with the ‘losing’ league in all cases (Gisborne/Upwey/drouin). Reckon a truly ‘independent’ panel free of bias but with good footy knowledge and understanding needs to look at these.

And all this goes on while nothing seems to be happening from city hall to assist maryborough a club with a ton of history - why are they any less deserving of support than the Bendigo and outer east leagues?

Spot on, they would rather broker deals in the background, they did this to ultima last year, changed the by-laws in 2 leagues to get them into the central murray, yet didnt think about 5 other clubs and try help them. The problem is gisborne players will be picked off this year if they stay in Bendigo, instead of sitting down in June with the bfl, hdfl, ncfl, lv, gv, cmfl and Golden rivers and working out a plan to keep teams continuing and prospering they do nothing

What if Gisborne merged with say the Giants, played in the Riddell then came to the conclusion after 12 months the merger didn't work, and go their separate ways, with the Bulldogs side of the entity going to Ballarat? Probably not likely but listening to their president on ABC radio this morning, anything is possible.

Had a chat to a committee person this morning fair to say the temperature is white hot and there’s going to have to be a huge amount of humble pie eaten to get back to playing in Bendigo.
Apparently there’s been a total breakdown in communication between the club and the league phone calls getting heated and refusing to talk at all
They are absolutely prepared to stand down next year if it comes to it and are very confident as soon as they are back there will be no issue getting players on board but they have multiple options to try before it gets to that
One thing is for sure they are a country mile from playing in Bendigo next season and it will take a massive backdown to change that

What makes them think Bendigo or AFL Vic would look favourably on the transfer next season if they sit 2026 out?
