If anyone followed what happened with Kyneton and their women’s side last off season you might have a clue to what’s going to happen with all this

Most of the players and staff on the W side of club said it was toxic and left. Couldn't find a league, had to merge and play in another place altogether.
Not the same.

Big picture is what matters women split formed a new club and from there they were free to apply to a league and it is up to the league if they accept them and no one else
They ultimately got rejected because they applied after the December deadline and the leagues were supporting Kyneton but the concept stands
If you form a new club then you can apply directly to a league and there is no capacity for anyone else to have any say

I'm hearing an EDFL div 1 recently promoted, with players having an affinity to the club thru school and friends, with the coach being a past player and coach of Gisborne striking a one year contract deal.
AFAIK Fox didn’t leave on good terms at Gisborne. Half the Rupo group leaving for Riddell once Fox was announced coach sort of proves that.

Incorrect according to Google.

Maybe that has changed since last year along with the transfer rule but in any event if Bendigo was asked and Gisborne was fully supportive of the new club then they would have no grounds to complain
Of course it’s all ridiculous but that’s what the powers that be are creating
I hear a survey has said they will lose a heap of players going to Bendigo again I know the two at my place have already said they are taking 12 months off and going to Europe if that’s the case

Of course they would, the new club is in the same town as one of their clubs. The only way a new club works is if AFL Vic are morons and don't realise theres a link. Besides, as I said the other day, Ballarat is affiliated to AFL Vic they wont do anything to piss them off.

Gisborne have 3 choices.

Play in Bendigo
Recess
Challenge it in court

They're all shit and they should be in Ballarat but thats it.

It's out an out wrong. I'm done with this league. Il never watch another game of it after the way marybourgh and Gisborne have been treated.

End up nowhere, burn bridges and find out that the AFL can’t make Leagues and people like you, no matter how diverse you profess to be.
Once you ruffle the feathers the AFL put a x next to your name.

I thought the only non affiliated league was Picola?
Up untill recently ( 2024??) metro leagues didn’t have affiliation agreements . They had funding agreements which was basically handout from afl vic and they did what they wanted.
Pretty sure a condition of getting the handout has now been changed to requiring ‘ affiliation which also means they are now under more control from the afl .

What's changed at Gisborne for them to want to Leave the BFL? They appeared to be quite happy playing in the BFL when they were winning flags.
They are still a good side, they've had their closest club leave in Kyneton, kids arent interested in travelling as far to play, when the standard of the rdfl has risen significantly in all grades, the ballarat league is far better run, they could probably host a final there in their first year

Where was the concessions to help them survive, extra points, bigger salary cap, a finals game to promote the club/more money for the club? You bring in broadford from extinction and they get the red carpet rolled out for them.
If a town of 8k can’t get their act together and maintain a competitive football club, I don’t think that’s on the league. The broadford stuff, yep, I don’t think anyone agrees with what’s going on there.
