in the Herald Sun this morning mentions that

Adam Bentick has only played 3 games this year

though is ranked 3rd at the club in tackles with 23

even though thats good to hear for Bentick, its poor for the rest of the team

though its something we have improved on but not great enough!

Have you considered that one of the main reasons that his tackle stats are always so high, is that he is continually being lead to the ball? If he was first to the pill more often, then he would have no need to tackle. I would be a lot happier about this stat for AB, if he was getting the ball 20 times per game, unfortunatelly that will never happen.

yeah, but Bentick is a tackling superstar. It's like comparing goals kicked by Fev to anyone else in the team.

God you are a tool, have you ever considered how we get smashed in the ruck contests giving the other team first use of the pill nearly all the time, and he is the only player who can actually lay a tackle and let it stick. Or have you thought about when its congestion and the ball doesn't go near him, yet he still is able to make the contest and make a scrum out of it to get another ball up instead of them breaking away? And look at his past 2 games, pretty sure he had the pill 20 times, over 5 clearances in both games, and 11 tackles.

Don't think so simple. Maybe he's one of those players that goes both ways working hard to get the ball and very good when the other side has it. I think he's got the ball so times in a game often.

I'll second that.
I've said it before AB adds a different dimension to the team and complements the group of runners we have.

Exactly. :thumbsu:

The question some may have is can we have both Bentick & Hadley in the same team at the same time. Both are real hard nuts and tackling freaks and give massive support to the likes of Judd, Stevens & Murphy. I say we can

I've always been a fan of the way Bent's goes about his footy. Watch him closely. He can surprise you with the work he does. If you watch, for example, the Eagles game, you would see how quickly if an eagles player got the ball he would wrap them up. When he's not playing, that opposition player would have cleared it easily. Does the stuff the players and coach loves but the general footy public don't see. Watch him closely on Saturday (to those who think he doesn't do much and gets led to the ball)

why wouldn't they? they are not the similair. Hadley can play back flank rotating on the ball where as Bentick is better suited right under the ruckman

Mate im not saying they cant play in the same team. I actually think they can and i agree with what you have said.

Feel the love! AB has won me over. Happy to have him in any side we pick. He has heart and grunt. Not characteristics we are much in abundance of.

Just a little concerned that some are abbreviating him to "Bents" and suggesting he can play both ways.

he had the pill bout 20 times against w/e unless i was watching last yrs game:confused:
our rucks get smadhed and instead of a opposition player running a muck he tackles em nd wraps it up:p

This thread has become a beautiful thing. So nice not to be the one defending him. :)

AB should be in our starting every week. He really compliments the rest of our mids very well.
Really?

You must have Bentick confused with someone who is damaging with his disposal and knows where the goals are. Adam will got out of the side when Bannister, Thornton, Walker and Houlihan return from injury. Hadley plays Bentick's position better because his disposal is sharper, he blocks for Judd, and he knows where the goals are after he snapped that goal against the Pies. I'd rather see Browne stay in the side ahead of Bentick because he's quicker and versatile enough to play on the ball and down back when needed.

You're entitled to your opinion of course but be careful you don't start barracking against one of our own
In general, NPI, we all seem quick to embrace the new and dump the old - we have only seen Hadley and Browne in a couple of games and like McKinley for WCE they have looked pretty good but have to put the score on the board for the season - I mention McKinley as he has been popular on our board (myself included) but have the feeling he is already going out of favour
Been unable to fathom why people think AB and Hadley cant be in same team, and can only vaguely see what Browney staying in side has to do with AB staying in

Gee when I think of it - your summary and blatant disregard of how he has been contributing is dam awful. In case you didn't like the first one try this one

Kind of appropriate that this one is a knocker on a blue board
Don't feel obliged to defend your position.
