Don't know about the Brownlow this year, but I reckon he could be worth a flutter next year, had one thing to work on this year and that was consistency and well, he's dropped below 20 possessions just 4 times this year(19,19,18,19) and just once since round 8, is really developing into one of the elite midfielders in the comp. My only real criticism of his year is he hasn't kicked enough goals, is a quality finisher in front of goals and can kick them from well beyond 50, which is something I'd like to see him do a lot more.

With regards to his disposal under pressure, that will improve with experience IMO, it isn't dreadful by any means he is just prone to the odd poor kick/handball, which he should tidy up relatively easily within the next year.

Just the name bernie vince is enough to show how classy he is....

im trying to talk to the missus to have our next kid named after him ;)

One of my favourites. I called his impending rise after his stellar game against Richmond last year (R11 or R12 I think).

Just wait till he has another season under his belt. While your at it......get another season into Dangermouse, Tippett, Mackay, Otten and Smack (to name a few) and 2011 is looking delicious! :thumbsu:

I agree Bernard is a quality player, his breakout season was definately last year and has followed up very nicely this year, most would agree he is our big surprise package this year along with Mr. Football (Otten).

I don't reckon he will poll very well as he and Mackay look very similar when playing, I reckon they might steal each others vote!!

Hopefully he keeps improving and steps into the elite category, which I feel he will.

Keep it up Bernie!

Would he be the favourite for your B&F this year?

Reminds me a lot of Joel Corey, probably with the potential to be a bit better down the line, if he gets the right players around him.

Up there in the top 5 probably. The likes of Thompson, Edwards, Goodwin, Doughty, Mcleod even will poll pretty well, as well as a few others probably. Should be an interesting B&F night for us, as I don't think there is a clear favourite like Bock was last year, although if Bock had played all 22 games it might have been a different story.

You'd have to say Thommo at this stage.

But top 5 Bernie, for sure.

he's not going to be too far away you wouldn't think.

I can see the Corey comparisons, and I also see a little Robert Harvey in that he has deceptive core strength in the contests, and really covers ground. that knack of being always being there, wherever there is, and knows how to position himself. Tidy disposal too.

Bernard was a real no.1 midfielder against Carlton & Essendon. the guy.

He reminds me more of Ben Cousins than anyone else. Has that running action. Roved the footy like Cuz on Friday night too :thumbsu:

Would have thought a better comparison is Bryce Gibbs ;) .......physique is similar, both with excellent kicking skills .....and both seems a touch on the laconic side

cousins more pace off the mark, more explosive. vince much better disposal.

Cousins is a tad more dynamic and explosive yes. However better disposal is pretty debatable. He probably gets more penetration on his kick but I'd still take Cousins kick over Vince- he never misses a target.

As much as i love Vince, i completely agree with those people who say he struggles under pressure....those who disagree, i mean real real pressure.
Against St Kilda with their pressure at Ethiad, he was fairly poor under the pump, as i have noticed a few times throughout the year....make no mistake hes gonna be a gun, but when you try and burn Cyril Rioli like he tried at the MCG, i question his decision making under pressure. Will improve with time though.

He has in the past, and this weekend will obviously be a massive test, but to be targeted like he was on Friday night, wear all of the hits and niggle like he did, and still be arguably be BOG, says that he's coming to grips with it.

Personally, i say there is a difference, between being targeted with bumps and cheap shots, and making split second decisions with the opposition constantly down your neck, this weekend is a big test, but not to the same extent as a St Kilda or Geelong, because as i believe Vince was BOG in round 1???? Pies do not have the same pressure as the true top teams...even if they do target him, its not affecting his decision making abilities as i previously pointed out
