IS that you Damien????
If so, hint ... McIntosh is a midfielder, not a back pocket or flanker. MIDFIELDER!

he may be physically suited to a mid role but getting the ball, deciding what to do with it and how he uses it are all average

I will come at this a bit differently.
I don't think we are far off, with the right recruiting and development.
I have picked a best 22 that could contend, with gaps filled, in bold, by players of the type that I think would fit, and perhaps be gettable.

Vlaustin Hurley/E. McKenzie Grimes
Yarran Rance Deledio
Menadue Martin McIntosh
Lennon Griffiths Rioli
O'Meara Riewoldt Lloyd
Hampson Cotchin Miles
Conca Houli Markov 1st Round Pick ( 6 or 7 should get us a big bodied midfielder ready for senior football. Eg Darcy Parish 2015 draft.)

I still see value and promise in Conca and Houli. Conca needs a good run with injuries to get continuity, and l believe Houli can reinvent himself as a wingman or half forward. We are too predictable with him at HB, and every club has worked out that he is easy to tag. By playing Yarran and Deledio (a la Bob Murphy) across half back, you get run and quality disposal. Deledio down back relies, a lot on Lennon stepping up.

I'm hopeful that Chol, or C Moore can step up and be a tall swingman to add depth, forward or back, and a back up ruckman is definitely required as depth. I wouldn't waste anything more than a third round pick on a depth ruckman. Take a young ruckman late in the draft to develop as well.

Players with value to trade for A grade players or picks.
B Ellis, Edwards, Astbury, Vickery (I think he's gone via free agency)
Mc Bean is the wild card here. If he finishes off the season well, keep him or trade him hopefully for overs.

Times up for Maric and Chaplin (both great servants in their time), don't continue to waste time/ clog list with A Moore, Elton.

Players like Hunt Townsend and Grigg become the depth players that they should be and the likes of Short, Drummond, C Ellis Castagna can continue to develop and put pressure on the incumbents.

With creative trading, and good drafting, I think Dimma's half step back to go two steps forward theory, could prove a wise statement, as l don't think we're far off.

WHY does every Richmond supporter naturally assume that all other club's haven't done their due diligence and will get seduced by a a good game here or there when it comes to targeting players from other clubs?
I mean, who else would have given up a second round pick for Hampson back when? No one!
But just because we panicked and pulled the trigger on him three minutes in to the opening day of the trade period, we think every club will do likewise.
And only at Richmond do supporters have this belief that playing someone continually late in a season will grow their value?
It was this regular 'we need to max his trade value' in reference to Ty Vickery that many justified for his retention in the team. Well, I can tel you, his continued selection has seen his appeal goes backwards at a rate of knots.
Hint: McBean has played three games in four seasons. Now I'm as happy as anyone to play him. If he were to bag four goals this week, his value would be a fourth rounder as we have ignored him for near on four years. Teams do due diligence.
They aren't Richmond who get seduced by one meaningless round 23 game and say we must have Jacob Townsend and go out and get him ..... and GWS offloaded him for the pittance it did for a reason.
Fact: 99% of footballers traded etc. go for their correct worth and that is determined well beyond a few end of season games.

Houli was in very ordinary form before injury and was a major reason for the slow sidewards ball movement , likewise Grigg.
Last night proved they are no longer a necessity and there are better youth who also have more upside.

I think next year we should play Bachar as an attacking wing man, he likes to run and carry and kicks well when on the run, his courage that he is criticized for by a lot of tigers under pressure wont be shown up and I think we now have better options off half back like Cellis, McIntosh, Menadue or Marcov even may be a good long term option along with Yarran if he ever gets on the park fit and firing (lot of iffs in that)

I agree with what you are saying.
My point with McBean is that I don't know if he can play, so play the season out in the seniors and make a decision on whether he is required next year or not, remembering that he is still only 21.
Entertain offers and if you get the right offer take it, if not stick with him.
We aren't the only club that pays over the odds.
North- Anderson, WCE- Redden, so you never know what you may get offered.

In the sides I named there are 10-13 potential midfielders named and 2 of our best are named on a flank in one of them. So who gives a toss about where they are named. At the end of the day over the course of the game any of them could be playing in the midfield, on a flank, resting in a pocket hell even sitting on the bench. It's all about our best 22 moving forward and the side that I named is what I consider to be that.
