Strange when I was looking at the afl site that he had 8 (I think?) score assists, the most ever recorded by Champion Data in a pre-season game.

Yes, I saw that too. I thought, well bugger me! Well done Ginners! I would need to watch the game again though, to see how accurate those figures are - I only remember him with one assist, and one goal, but memory isn't the best when it comes to game day.
If true though, he might have just cemented his place for Rd 1.

Yep you bet this is how it would work in practice.
Just emailing Simmo now.
Cheers for your game plan Reep!!! :hearts::hearts::hearts::rainbow::fire:

FF: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
HF: Cripps, Darling, Masten

^^ Our best IMO.

Have big issues with Masten as a forward, has struggled big time when manned up and can only tackle when the opposition player runs directly in to him. Best role is free wheeling outsider where he can use his premier asset, running ability.

You're aware he would probably play 15-20% of his game time off the half forward flank?

He's (or supposed to be) a gut running, possession getting mid, regardless of his starting position on a whiteboard or at a bounce.

I think without Darling at least initially McGovern needs to play CHF rather than throw Lamb to the slaughter.

There's an obvious temptation to play McGovern down back especially against the Bulldogs with potentially Redpath, Boyd, Crameri and Stringer as 4 taller forwards in an opening setup. If they are killing us early than McGovern is moved to the back line and structure would need to change. But without McGovern at CHF it makes us Kennedy conscious when going tall inside 50, making him susceptible to double teaming and we fall into a trap like the Pies do with Cloke. Once a fit Darling returns McGovern becomes a more permanent defender.

Against the Dogs I'd like to see us structure like this. Would need to play Cripps in the starting 21 incase one of Johannisen or Murphy get off the leash early as you don't want to make a sub just based on that. Tom Lamb the substitute.

HF: Masten ~ McGovern ~ Wellingham
HB: Johannisen ~ Talia ~ Murphy

FF: Lycett ~ Kennedy ~ LeCras
FB: Morris ~ Roughead ~ Wood
