Best Full Back

Its pretty funny 'cause there were all these polls on who was the best FB of the league during the year and the two options were Scarlett and Rutten. now when Rutten was shown up by Glass with the All Australian suddenly it appears to be Scarlett and Glass the best two, whilst next year we will probably have some other dumb ass team saying there full back is better than Scarlett.

matthew scarlett is a back to back all australian and was unlucky to get 3rd back to back last year. Glass has only come up this year as a top full back, so i think glass may have to get another aa to prove he is worthy.

Glass was only marginally better this year than last, it just seems as though it takes a good 12-18 months extra for news to filter East.

Please correct me If Im wrong but isnt this the second year in a row Scarletts the only fullback in the league to get brownlow votes

Could've been in a game where he had 5 goals kicked on him and played up the ground for all we know. Players generally only seem to get votes for high possessions and goal-kicking. Look at glass' stats, doesn't get that much of the ball but is incredibly good one-on-one. Had some goals kicked on him for sure, but you can't stop them all.

Interesting how Rutten's stocks have dropped in just a year. This poll taken this time last year would have him and Glass swap votes IMO. Shows how for all these people who think the AA team is a 'load of nonsense' alot of people do seem to place weight on it.

To be fair his stocks 'rose' in a not very long period fo time too

if its for carrea fletcher, if its for jus thtis year, i would say fletcher based on stats

How can Fletcher be the best full back when he rarely plays on the opposition's key forward anymore? Anyone who can get towelled up by Kant Kicksley is an absolute dud IMO. Kingsley would not get a sniff if he was playing on Scarlett, but I'd say Scarlett might kick a few goals on him :D

Because that's where he plays every week.

Scarlett kicks a couple of goals, Fletcher sets up the most goals from FB in the comp :thumbsu:

Scarlett and Rutten are the best full backs in the comp. Who cares about the All Australian team honestly. It's only 6 peoples opinions. Glass isn't so what his cracked up to be. And he wasn't good last year, I watched alot of WCE games last year and this and i have no idea what the hype is about. Also Fletcher can't be counted as the best full back i nthe comp anymore. He doesn't play Fullback. He played as a third defender. Then sometimes moves onto the Fullforward. When there getting cained.

Scarlett's been crap this year and Rutten is only really good because his teammates all get back to help him. It isn't even him that does the spoiling or defensive work half the time, it's his 2 extra teammates that do the majority of work on his opponent. Glass has to always play 1-on-1 with the opposition's best forward because that's Woosha's game plan. No players rushing backwars, no double-teaming or help in spoiling. just his defensive skills against the best forward the opposotion can throw at him and he usually wins. no wonder he's AA full-back this year. Don't degrade his achievement, he thoroughly deserves it. Scarlett's good but not as good as he's been in previous years...

I reckon Rutten is the best fullback still....

He gets too much help though. How can you be considered great when your teammates are triple teaming the forward you're playing on and you get plaudits for it? He's a great cog in the machine no doubt but he's certainly not the engine.

agree with u on that 1

For the first time this year Worsfold helped out Glass in the GF by dropping a spare man back, similar to the support Rutten and Scarlett get all the time. The result - Glass keeps Barry Hall goal-less :thumbsu:
