Why is Sam Mitchell there when he averaged 27 or so uncontested possessions a game? I thought the role of an inside midfielder was to win the contested possession.

League totals: Uncontested Possessions

1. Scott West - 636
2. Sam Mitchell - 596
3. Heath Scotland - 591
4. Simon Goodwin - 584
5. Kane Cornes - 572

...and for arguments sake, Mitchell is second only to Judd for clearances per game 6.5 to 6.0.
He is also third(6.6) in the league for First Possessions behind Black(7.6) and Judd(6.7).

So yeah, he deserves to be on that list.

Kerr and Judd. They are both the best inside and outside midfielders.

Judd broke the world record for clearances in a game in the Grand Final :thumbsu: (think it was 11 IIRC). Kirk broke the record too but Judd got 1 more contested possession so he has it.

He also had 21 more contested possessions then any other player in the AFL despite playing 23 games only 1 more then his nearest rival in D.Harris

Judd also has 16 more clearances then his nearest rival. Not only is he 1st for contested footy hes 1st in clearances too :)

You would have to question a poll on inside midfielders that doesn't include these players as options.

In 2003 Judd was 2nd to Simon Black in contested possessions (Black played 3 more games and had 5 more possessions.)

In 2004, 2005 and 2006 Judd has lead the comp in this stat.

Daniel Kerr was in the top 5.

Impressive. Little wonder why many suspect the Weagles wouldn't be top-4 without Judd. A great player. :)

McLean was stiff to miss the list.
not there...yet, gaining fast though

i would have
Kerr
Mitchell
West(good player, but gathers lots of uncontested possies)
Kirk
Cross
Ball

ball last because various injuries

Fair enough, but I wasn'tcomparing him to Judd. I agree, Judd should be in the list as well, but Carr was better than others in the list.

Yeah? well Carlton would be crap without... oh wait nevermind :D

You're a goose. He played 13 gamesa where he proved that he was too weak.

Should have Josh Carr on that list.
Yeah so weak that after he was thrown to the ground, he continued to play with an injured shoulder and threw a lion's player to the ground as well as fending off others
He isn't in the top group for inside midfielders yet, but will be in the future
You're what is weak mate

In his 13 games he showed he is already a better player than any Freo player to have ever played AFL.

Carr is not worthy to be mentioned alongside Murphy.

The Purple StKilda; born to failure.
