Which team has the best midfield? I didn't do all the teams, just the ones that should get a vote.

If midfields were only three deep, I'd put the Pies right up there with the Hawks - Mitchell is so so so good, that I'd vote the Hawks.

Deledio, Cotchin, Martin looks real good on paper, even better on the field. If your going to go with 3 per team you could probably include every list.

Your midfield doesn't revolve around 3 players lol. Have a look at Melbourne. Jones, Tyson, Viney/Vince looks solid. What happens when they are all on the bench? Lumumba, JKH, Cross probably. (Not taking anything away from Melbourne's mid). Doesn't matter how good 3 of your mids are, if they aren't on the ground then how can they have an impact? Have to include all the players who play in the midfield, not just the best 3.

Irrelevant ask whos got the best opening bounce centre square then. Because each club have at minimum 6-8 dofferent guys at the centre bounces at some stage during a game. A good top 3 is pointless if the next 5 are Richard Tamblings.

Midfields aren't made up of 3 players. Wingman these days are pretty much mids. No team has all 3 of the same mids at the centre bounce for the whole day...

I didn't say that teams have the same 3 midfielders in there midfield for the whole game. This pole was based on the teams best possible midfield. As in the 3 players you see in the centre bounce. If there was 1 minute on the clock and you needed one goal to win, who would have in... That's what I've based this on.

Why would you choose to list McVeigh instead of Jack? Also Goddard has barely played in the midfield this year; Zaharakis, Howlett, Melksham, Merrett, Cooney and others have all played more midfield minutes.

Maybe I'm not paying attention but doesn't Barlow get a decent run in Freo's midfield?

For consistency I would go with Freo, probably the best overall too.
Any side with Mitchell must be considered too, but Hodge/Lewis have not been as consistent over the journey.

Yeah Barlow does but having 3 players all in a midfield at 190+ cm wouldn't give much variety, hill is a handy player though.

Kieran Jack is overated in my opinion, I think mcveigh is an all round better player. Goddard is still better then the 5 players you listed..

It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Burgoyne is our best clutch player and when the chips are down he is the first player thrown in the guts.

Do bets midfield but with 6 midfielders for each club, doesn't matter if you have 3 great players. The rest of the midfielders still have to be good. A team consists of about 10-15 players that can play midfield.

A midfield consists of four players at the centre bounces and comparisons should include the ruck.
WCE had the greatest midfield that I've ever seen of Cox, Judd, Cousins & Kerr.
The Crows midfield of Jacobs, Dangerfield, Sloane & S Thompson is decent.

But I agree with the posters above who have stated that a real midfield comparison must include the 8-10 (including the rucks) players who rotate through the position.

Ours should be up there.

Martin/Leuenberger as rucks with Rockliff, Rich, Beams, Hanley, Redden, Zorko, Christensen, Mayes, Aish and Taylor as the mids.

Majority of those players in very poor form likely due to the new game plan. But should bounce back midway through the season and become one hell of a midfield group.
