I think the 1992 Eagles team was slightly better. Most of our star players of the time were also younger.

Now what is that about Abel Xavier ? Isn't he a soccer player of the portuguese national team ?

Hard to say hilly, both of ours being as deserved as they were :p ;)

But for me, 92. The 94GF was better in that the margin was bigger, but the opposition wasn't as hard imo... so yeah, I'd say the 92 team. :)

Finishing 4th in 92 is deserved?

Most Eagles fans would say '92, I believe. That may be biased by it being the first.

It depends what you mean by best. Arguably our best form ever was the first half of '91 (I think we were still 4 games clear at the end of the year).

'92 we won the greatest final against Hawthorn and then travelled twice to Melbourne to beat Geelong twice.

'94 we finished top of the H&A, but played two fairly unimpressive home finals to get into the GF (so first travel of the finals series) to play Geelong, who had been expected to lose to North the previous week. We thrashed them in the GF.

Players in 92 only: Dwayne Lamb, Craig Turley, Karl Langdon, Paul Harding, Mitchell White.

94 only: David Hart (injured in 92), David Hynes, Ryan Turnbull, Jason Ball, Shane Bond, Drew Banfield.

Based on the individual player comparison, I'd say 92 was better and the opposition was also in my view better. The travel schedule was harder and I believe the players as a group were probably more united and focussed. Statistically, 94 was better, but, as I've mentioned to Dan a couple of times, stats don't prove everything.

has to be 92.......the first...the come from behind win, the courage of Don Pyke to get back, the expectations for us to lose......

This was the game where were finally earned the Victorians respect......

1992 for me also, because it was our first and most memorable. How can you go past Roo's 5 goals and Peter Wilson's behind snap goal followed by a 'nutter run'.

1994 was just as good, because we dominated that GF from start to finish.

1992 for me too for all the above reasons and most definitely because it was our first! Aahh, the memories... :D

'92 without a doubt.. Although i was only a young whippersnapper at the time, watching Peter Matera rip gary hocking to shreds on the wing signalled the start of my life as a dyed in wool eagles supporter.

Mead, it was Bairstow he ripped apart....:)

I liked the 92 GF because it was our first flag, and we played a much more competitive Geelong side.

A young Glen Jakovich (sporting a mullet) patrolled half back like a veteran.
A rather nerdy looking Milli McIntosh humiliated Billy Brownless, and Woosha kept Ablett out of the game through constant physical pressure.

Plus you got to see those two psychos in Karl Langdon and Peter Wilson create goals out of pure stupidity.
Also liked it when Langdon ran all the way down the ground to rip into Gary Ablett after he KO Don Pyke.

Man, I miss Karl. :(
