Bevo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a knock. He could vey well be the best one day cricketer in the world. He single handedly won us this game, and his average of 57 speaks for itself. To put it into context Steve Waugh averages 32, 25 less the Bevo.

And as for Andy Bichel

I luv the man

Bevan the Champion!

What a knock....what a game....what a win!

Great effort from Warne to hang in there and steady the ship after "The Hack" was out softly AGAIN. Promote Warne above Harvey next time he plays.....

And Brett Lee, sensational....Bichel kept his cool very well too!

Dipper, I am cookin' up a big trayful of those humble pies for all the knockers in here!;)

Bevan is the greatest one-day player in the world, especially under pressure. He was the only man in Australia who believed we could win after the Hack was out. Gutsy effort.

Brilliant. Once again it was Bevo to the rescue.
102 runs from just 95 balls.

A few people around here owe Bevan an apology. :)

Still needs to be changes to the top order though.
Marto should be opening with Gilly.

Were are those Bevan knockers now?

The best one-day batsman in the world.

Why? Because he score is runs quicly with minimal risk. He doens't hit the ball in the air as a general rule (although he obviously does it at times) and had been rewarded with the incredible average of 57, which is the equaivalent of averaging 70 in Test Cricket.

Ay? Says who? (Equivalent to averaging 70 in test cricket)

The two forms of the game are so totally distinct that comparisons between the two are odious and irrelevant.

Doesn't change the fact that it's an incredible average. He is by far the best one day batsmen in the world, and is probably the best our country has produced. Can anyone in the history of one day cricket beat his average?

Yes it is an incredible average and yes he is a brilliant batsman (second best one day batsman in the world imho after Tendulkar); how it is equal to a test average of 70 is beyond me.

As a fello Canberran can I just say there isn't enough of us in sport. It is obvious we are amongst best in most sports we choose to play, be it Cricket, Aussie Rules, Rugby League or Rugby Union.

Well done Bevo!!!!

I think the point Dan is trying to get across is that his average is incredible and that in test cricket (which is where we all equate averages) a 57 average in one-day cricket would be like averaging 70 in tests.

I understood that he had no formula, but that he was just trying to put it into equal terms...

Yeah i know where he was coming from Briedis, simple fact is he plucked that 70 number out of his arse, there are no facts to back that assertion up.

Bevan absolutely brilliant again.

The Top order however is so far out of form its not funny. Even Ricky Ponting is looking out of confidence and playing bad get out shots.

They cannot let this great win mask what are large problems in the Australian team at the moment. That is the fifth bowler and a decent top order.

Gilchrist has been horrible.
Martyn can't get a run when they employ that field
M Waugh has loooked bad
S Waugh - smilarly but he is the captain and deseves more chances
Symonds - can't bat and bowls pies which sometimes get wickets
Harvey - can't bat and is overated as a bowler

Changes need to be made.

Of course not....he was just trying to qualify something. And to me it sounded fair enough....

Are you thinking what I'm thinking Jars? A certain South Australian star batsman?

For god's sake selectors, BRING IN BOOF!

Bevo ... you legend.

While the country is stoked, the most grateful people in Australia are M & S Waugh & Ponting ... they get yet another life because of one man's batting.

Why is it that you have to make 10 million runs to get into the side (DARREN LEHMANN, Hayden, Elliott etc), but once you get in, you don't have to actually make any runs to stay in?

Hey, don't forget Gilly!

Lehmann should be in, Elliot...are you serious? Hayden struggled already this year with his chance...

Ponting and M. Waugh have played some great one-day cricket over the past year, so it is reasonable that the selectors are giving them a chance as they are proven performers. Steve is really struggling, but he is captain.... Martyn's form since his ton has also been very poor.

I reckon a punt on Watson for the two under-performed all-rounders would be a good decision. Symonds is struggling with the bat, but has picked up some key wickets and adds to the field. Harvey is a HACK...fullstop. So, I'm not sure we'd lose that much and he may be a bonus for us....

Bring back Boof!

Well done Bevo...great job mate!
Even though I had to listen on the radio, coz I couldn't get to the game and it wasn't on telly!

Gilchrist and M Waugh
Ponting
Lehmann
Martyn
S Waugh
Bevan
Warne
Gillespie
Bichel
McGrath

Symonds as 12th

Only problems are the bowling would need to be shared for the fifth bowler between M Waugh, Martyn, Bevan, S Waugh? and that Bevo is now at seven, and that's not the best spot for the no.1 one day batsman in the game. However, he'd probably face 30-odd overs batting at 7, the way our top-order have been playing!

Bloody Tendulkar is so overrated because he plays all his cricket on dirt roads in India. For someone who is supposedly so technically brilliant I can't believe how often he gets hit on the pads, how often he skies the ball and how poor his record is out of India. I'm not talking about Tests, where he is far better (although still struggles compared to when he is in India), but in this form of the game, Bevo leaves Sachin for dead. No one can turn ones into twos like Bevo, no one can play with minimal risk like Bevan can and in ANY conditions. Not on the flat, lifeless pitches that Sachin is gifted every match. Bevo in India recently (where he averarged 109) and in the Asia vs Rest of the World match (were he scored 183no off 130 balls) proved that in this form of the game, even on Sachin's home turf, he was head and shoulders above everyone. All hail Bevo, the great man...

Have a look at Watson's one-day figures. Have we completely forgotten the concept of picking someone on merit?

Tis only incredible because of his number of not outs. He plays in a position where he is often the man not out at the end of the innings.
