Every week it's the same thing, the team gets selected and people lose their minds about how this kid isn't playing and how that kid should be playing ahead of hack x, y & z. Then without fail when these kids are given a shot the same people will jump on a bitch about how we lack depth and how we need to go out and recruit more mature bodies to improve our depth. How about instead of whinging we actually show some support towards the selected and wait until after the game before we rip into them.

When I went to the Bulldogs game, I was sitting next to this guy. No Richmond merch on (nothing wrong with that), just casually dressed but a Richmond supporter. All he did was criticize Richmond players from the first bounce to the final siren. I could tell he was interested in the game, but that's all he did.

Makes you wonder what losing consistently over a long period of time does. Is it so ingrained into some people that the feeling of winning isn't as good as you think?

I had one at the Collingwood game in full Richmond gear bagging players at the top of his lungs to the bloke sitting next to him. FFS mate people 15 bays away can hear you have the most ignorant one way 2 hour conversation in the history of all conversations. Players were getting potted for mistakes they made 30 minutes earlier. Knights makes one mistake and it was "I never rated him and don't get why we got him." "He was shithouse last week and that's why he was subbed off". No you moron he was subbed because he was getting match fitness and our team was tearing them a new one. Would love to ask him what he thought of Knights 3 goal performance on Friday.

People are impatient and although you state the same users who want young players in are the same ones who whine when they don't perform , I don't agree .
There are plenty of very knowledgable people within this board who have supported the clubs bid in gaining depth until those who were draftees have developed to the stage the majority of them are now .
At the end of the day what's the big deal with users saying that think player ex is shit , if they have the balls to say it , they shall have the balls to except it rubbed in their face shall they be proven wrong . The problem is , including in society , that people get offended when people say what they think and try to silence them .
If you don't like what people write , don't read it and if you believe they are wrong either categorically prove it in correct or wait till they are proven in correct, and rub it in their face .

It's got nothing to do with stopping people from voicing an opinion, it's about the way they go about it. Sitting here Thursday nights and reading post after post bagging players for being selected ahead of a favourite makes for very boring reading. Especially when some of the reasons offered up are nothing more than generalisations. Then as I said come post match some of those same posters will be the first to jump on and criticise the kids who do come in or their whipping boy for the tiniest things. I have no issue with posters crticising selection as long as they are willing to give valid reasons as to why they don.t agree.

One thing I have never (ever) done is bag the players whist sitting in the stands and to cap it all off we've had some genuine clowns don the yellow and black guernsey in years gone by!

I find it quite amusing when people bag out our players or say they don't offer this or that, "Player x forward doesn't kick enough goals", "player x defender doesn't make enough spoils", do you really think that the ten or so people from the match committee that sit down and meticulously pick the side each week don't know that?

Each player has a role within the team and we don't know what that is most of the time unless it's blatantly obvious, also, we don't see what the players are like around the club and how hard they train which is often why some get picked in a 50/50 choice over others.

Thats why i just laugh when people say "Petterd, grigg, king etc shouldn't be in the team".

At the end of the day, they pay their cash and all clubs have that component..I really dont understand why a thread like this pops up, when blind freddy and his cousins in the next universe know that it has been happening for the last 100 years and will continue to happen for the next 100 barring any unforeseen asteroid etc...If a club wants to get to 70K members and keep the turnstiles ticking, they are fully aware that they wont get 70K sitting there with their hands up, singing koombaya and smiling at each other...Its the nature of the beast. Like we talk about this shit as if it were based purely around tigerheads, and pop up with a couple of examples in a crowd of 60 thou and so that makes us eat our own..get real...have been to many games over the stretch and I can say for sure and certain ALL club supporters pay out on their own...the end.

The most frustrating thing in the world is going on richmonds facebook page after a loss and reading some of the comments from supporters. No knowledge whatsoever, ripping into player and coach, its an absolute disgrace.

Not at all, just find it annoying that week after week the same comments get made about the same players, regardless of whether they performed well the previous week. The same applies to the kids who miss out, doesn't matter how they have gone the week before in the ressies it just seems like certain posters will still go on about how they should be playing ahead of the current whipping boys.

Unfortunately, the majority of this Richmond site is negative... Just read the thread titles.
I love the banter in here and there are some very humorous posters with quick wit and excellent writing skills. But they are the minority and are drowned out by the "this player/coach/recruit/passage of play is shit..." "Why does player x get a game?" "Why is x playing in defence?"
Everyone has an opinion, cool... It's an Internet forum, I understand..... Richmond fans are passionate and impatient, I am one.... But just remember how shit we were 3 years ago, when we had a LEGITIMATE reason to bag the footy team.
