Not sure how we lost that. We really should of been cruising.

Short played so well so I can't blame him but that was a bad dismissal. It all fell apart from there. Still without him we wouldn't of got close.our batting sticks are so poor.

I thought we bowled and fielded well. Wadia had some brain fades with the bat but a good cameo at the end. He clearly can't play short fast pitched bowling so everyone will target that from now on.

Wait for Tim Paine to come up with his usual excuses and claim this week

'We are playing good cricket but just letting ourselves down in the key moments'

'Having Head and Carey would make us a better team but we can't dwell on that, we have to make the best if what we have'.

What impressed you the most in the last over against a bowler playing their first game. Was it the two dot balls or him getting out?

Nielsen actually batted sensibly when he came to the crease.

I don't think trusting Pope would be smart for a recognised bat, but sensible play would be more likely to get them over the line in Nielsen's case than farming the striker.

Also... nitpicking the lower order avoids the failure of the top order again.

I feel for a few years we were a relatively big successful franchise that players wanted to be at. The last few years the gloss has really come off.

We have picked up discards from interstate but been a while since we have bought in any real quality from outside the state besides the internationals.

Obviously Short is a star, Pope and Scott are okay but the rest of the locals are very average.

On his way out the door Tim Neilsen signed Harry Neilsen for two years and Kelly for three. Really poor decisions. It annoys me that Chris Lynn doesn't field much and jokes about being to old for it.

I keep hearing people say Tim Paine is going to be a great coach but we haven't seen anything to suggest that's the case.

For at least a decade the Strikers domestic recruitment policy seems to have been a combination of "I can't believe proper_classy cricketer_XYZ isn't signed." and some sort of quiet income subsidy for Redbacks players who are barely suited to T20.

It's paid off exactly twice for mine (Lynn and Siddle). Edit: And Matt Short most obviously.

Lynn seems to have changed his tune on that at least. He was on mic last night and speaking about working on his fielding, and annoyed that the commentators were acting as if he'd just left Brisbane, when this is his 4th season at Adelaide.

Surely we have a keeper in grade cricket more suited to T20.
Carey will be back in the squad towards the end of the season for at least the last 3 games (I suspect the Sydney test wicket will be comically flat to prove a point, so it will last the distance).

But somebody in the reddit comments for last nights match provided a long list of available domestic keepers

Some Reddit Guy said:
Handscomb, Doran, Blackford, Mathias, Hicks, Lemire, Holt (he scored 100 in top end T20 final).
