Who's going?? Who are you looking forward to seeing??

For me I'm obviously v keen for Muse (MB avatar) but also keen to see The Mars Volta, Lily, Dizzee, Mastodon and Karnivool and maybe Groove Armada if I have the energy after a day in the 'D'.

I'm super pumped!! Who else is??

Pretty pumped - only 23 days away ! It's gonna be my first one. Particularly looking forward to Muse, Lily Allen, Powderfinger, Jet, Eskimo Joe, Hiltop Hoods and Groove Armada and just the atmopshere of the day in the general.

The timetable is up btw. Hope there's no clashes for anybody

Those who haven't heard of Karnivool, get on it. Not only are they awesome, top blokes as well (fun to tour with).

But for me, Soundwave is THE festival these days, regardless of the emo presence, the set this year is unbelievable, unfortunately, I won't be in Aus then :(

This is Hell, Baroness, Isis, Glassjaw then Meshuggah on that bill for me. Few others to catch as well I guess.

Faith no More, Janes Addiction, Trivium, Anthrax, Meshuggah, Isis, HIM, also wouldn't mind seeing Anti-flag, Paramore, Anvil, Death Audio and am curious to see how My CHemical Romance and AFI play live.

Only really decided to go to BDO because of The Mars Volta. It's a pity they're on the main stage because they'll only get 50-60 minutes, whereas last time they did BDO they played a smaller stage and got 80 minutes.

I must be getting old because none of the bands in the BDO lineup really interest me these days apart from Rage Against the Machine last year and they are a throwback to the 90s.

I remember years ago lineups like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Chilli Peppers, Metallica, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Hole, The Prodigy, Garbage and others.

those were the days. nostalgia aint what it used to be i guess

Not well from my recollection, atleast MCR. But ill be willing to give them another chance. Im skipping BDO in favour of Soundwave this year, mostly due to the missus being interested in most of the music which has got me listening (and liking) most of it. Theres also a few bands such as Faith No More, Paramore, Reel Big Fish and Janes Addiction too..... cant stand Anti-Flag though but I fear ill be dragged along to listen to their "music" :p

Step in this room where I wanna be
Surely you mean this as something
You're bringing me down to a silent breath and its a truth I wanna see

I'm not much of a metal fan .... at all .... but bloody hell that is a brilliant song.

I really like Karnivool.

Ill be in NZ so it doesnt matter, but I was (still am) dissapointed with the lineup this year. Big bucket load of meh to me. Having said that, its still always a good day regardless of the lineup.

no joke! i was too young to go in those days, my brother listens to pretty much all of them, and i find myself more often than not, listening to all his music! now theres not even really one real standout for me, apart from hilltop hoods, and sort of Muse but definately not the best lineup.

This is my first time going which is mainly for Muse but there are definately some side acts I'm interested in. Temper Trap, Karnivool, Rise Against and Powder Finger I'd like to see as well. Agreed though it's one of the worst lineups BDO has produced over the years but I hope I'll still have a good experience!

Just looking at the timetable now working out roughly who I want to see...

Karnivool
Mastodon
Kasabian
Lily Allen
The Mars Volta
the second half of Simian Mobile Disco
Fear Factory
...and curiosity will probably get the best of me and I'll end up checking out Girl Talk. I think he's a bit of a cop-out as a musician but I'm interested to see how his live set sounds, as his albums are all computer edited and not mixed manually. Haven't got high expectations for him.

I will be avoiding the main area like the plague during Muse. Don't rate their last album at all, think they're a bunch of egomaniac queen-wannabes and there will be way too many knobs around the main arena at that time of the night. Last year's timetable was really well planned out, as I didn't end up seeing any bands on the main stages - everything I wanted to see was on green, converse stages or the boiler room.

It's too bad the gays had to kick up a stink about Beenie Man being on the bill, cos I would've liked to see a bit of Jamaican dancehall.

Cammo, did you see the doco on SBS about copyright, piracy and mash-ups recently? Girl Talk was in it quite a lot. Very interesting doco, although i thought the angle on the whole thing was extremely biased and one-sided, there were some valid points raised.

Nah I didn't but my mate was telling be about that one. I think Girl Talk relies too much on the popularity of the tracks he's sampling/playing, whereas more talented mash-up DJs (such as Z-Trip) don't need to play "hits" to impress listeners. Girl Talk's albums give me the impression that he is just a jukebox with ADHD.

Thats the whole point of Girl Talk though, its just a bunch of songs that you already know mashed together, you don't need to take time to get into it, it's nothing special its just a bit of fun.

I recognise this, but what annoys me about Girl Talk is if you take a look at the track listings for his albums, he gives no credit to the songs he's mixing and names the all tracks as if they're his own compositions. He's not manipulating them anywhere near enough to claim them as his own, all he's doing is mixing pop music.

Anyone else getting a head ache looking at the timetable.

Gay facts of Beluejuice and Miami Horror being on early, Ladyhawke, Lily Allen and Calvin Harris all overlapping to an extent and The Decemberists and Hilltops on at the same time!

Then you'll hate this doco! Its very one-sided and done by a Girl Talk fan. He does raise some very good points on the way copyright is currently being applied, but the extent to which runs his message really undermines his point. I have respect for Girl Talk as a "DJ" or producer or whatever, but the extent to which he demonstrates genuine artistic and original merit with his music is extremely dubious. I would probably go check it out if I had nothing else on though. Would be fun.

Miami Horror being on so early sucks.

LadyHawke and Calvin Harris overlapping sucks - I understand why they do it, but surely put two big, different style acts on at the same time and split the crowd that way.

I'm the same, for the past few years there've been maybe 1 or 2 acts each year i'd actually make the effort to see. I was too young to go back in the good old days, then when i was finally old enough and have money of my own, the lineup just gets worse and worse each year.
