Who do you think will have a break out year in 2008?

My tip is Angus Monfries if he gets more midfield time, hopefully all the time Jetta has been putting in at the gym pays off also..

IM HOPING BACHAR HOULI

I'm really hoping for a big one from Dempsey. And if Knights sticks by his skills promise, i'd love to see Stanton become one of the elite onballers. And Winderlich's good game's are brilliant to watch, just hope there are more of them. And ofcourse, Houli, Jetta, Hislop to be big improvers, as well as Gumbleton showing why he is a number 2 pick in a superdraft.

Monfries and Hocking are locked in for big years i think. Dempsey, Houli and Hislop are others that i hope will also be big improvers but i think Monfries and Hocking more so.
It'd also be lovely to see Johns improve and come into the 22 and hold down full back.

I'm on the Monfries bandwagon as well. Another cog in out midfield machine. Other than that i'm confident Stants will keep improving.
As for players not currently in the best 22, i'm hoping for a good year from both Neagle and Hislop.

I reakon Davey will be the big improver. Maybe also Jetta and Neagle. Nash also could.

One would expect that all of the kids will improve but i reckon Dyson will be the one that surprises a lot of people. He seems to get ridiculed and bagged out a lot in the Essendon board but next year he will prove himself under Knights.

Can't believe i forgot him, i'm one of very few essendon people who is a big fan of him. Has the pace and long kicking skills that we so desperatly lack and need.

But gee the times are exciting. I'm not too worried where we finish next year, just the excitment of watching the improvement of Davey, Dempsey, Dyson, Gumbleton, Hocking, Hislop, Houli, Jetta, Johns, Lovett, Monfries, Nash, Neagle, Reimers, Ryder, Stanton, Watson, Winderlich, as well as McVeigh into the midfield and McPhee into the foward line. Even someone like Lee and Daniher hopefully proving that they will be key backmen in the future for us. The future is exciting at Windy Hill :)

I think Matthew Lloyd will improve alot this year and become the coleman medalist once again.

Expecting the **** to get bigger and better too.

Dempsey by a mile

He will go from playing just one game in 07 to being the NAB rising star if he plays at least 15 games

there aren't too many players going around with less than 10 games to their credit who have the ability to be instant match winners

I think Jobe Watson will be the one to step up to a high level and become one of the game's better midfielders. I have endless faith in Jobe to do that eventually.

I think we'll see more from Scott Gumbleton than we expect.

Andrew Lovett's another.

I'm hoping we get big improvements from Johns and Dyson as well, it'd be good for them to stand up to the doubters.

I would like to see Dempsey, Monfries and Dyson have big years.

Expected some consistent game time from Jetta.
McVeigh, Stanton, McPhee and Watson to be our midfield big 4.
Houli to start stringing games together and push for a starting role

I would LIKE to see:
Lloyd bag over 100. i.e our forwards (other than Lucas) put enough pressure on backlines to at least get Lloyd 2 out, instead of 3 most the time. Then the capt. needs to step up and impose

Laycock and Hille to add a midfield dimension to their rucking game.

none of them essendon are terrible and have no-one

At least we're not being pushed out of Victoria and having our supporters asking for donations from the oppositions supporters.

A few of the members from our board have been trying to help your club with donations, but you're too much of an idiot to see that. Don't come in here trolling again or you will surely banned.

Hille and Laycock......we need both to improve fast..faster.

I would think that Ryder, Laycock, Dempsey, and Monfries will all have break out years. There's an arguement for Ryder having one this year but I think he'll be a much better player again next year.

I would also expect huge leaps forward from Hislop, Jetta, Houli, Gumbleton, and Neagle with fitness prevailing. I'd think their break out years will be a couple of years away given there age and experience though.

Good one ******** most of us here have given donations to your fighting fund so you have a club in Victoria.

Gus and Gumby ;)

Also, I think Dempsey and Jetta are in for a big years...

Hislop and Reimers to make names for themselves.

For their careers, Johns and Dyson will be looking to have big seasons!!

I have not and will not give a donation to North Melbourne. This year i purchased an extra Essendon Membership as i would rather my money go to my club. If North supporters got off there arse and purchased memberships then i would be inclined to chip in but at the moment i am not sure if they deserve to have a team in Victoria. It is not rocket science, if there supporters want to watch there team play in Victoria then they need to get a membership. Too many want to have there cake and eat it also.

im sick of everyone pumpin up monfries tyres he has done nothing i will be happy to trade him for anyone that cant actually get a kick, when its tough and we need a lift he is nowhere to be found.Another wasted draft pick. Reimers, nash and dempsey will hopefully explode in 2008, Davey has to back up his good first year form, the little man is a champ. Give angus the boot or get him in the midfield where he played alot of his juniors because at this stage he is just another gary moorcroft.

Dempsey, Jetta & Neagle to be the biggest improvers, delivering on the promise that they have all shown in their (very) short senior careers so far.

I think Jobe Watson will be the one to step up to a high level and become one of the game's better midfielders. I have endless faith in Jobe to do that eventually.

Good call, Jobe has been very consistent in-and-under for us for the last 2 years and is hopefully ready to take it to an elite level. Already challenging as the comp's best handballer.

Laycock and Hille to add a midfield dimension to their rucking game.

Can't recall exact stats, but wasn't Laycock very high in terms of clearances in '07?

Gus had a mediocre year this year but it is important to remember he is only 20 years old and no-where near his peak. To put that in perspective he is only 5 months older than Dale Thomas.
