There seems to have been a fair bit of media this week surrounding how Troy Wilson plays, like whether he goes in too hard, legal tackles/marks, plays fair etc. Whilst I think he's all 'above board' (surprise, surprise.... ;) ), I hope this doesn't mean that he'll come under extra scrutiny by the umpires this week, not to mention other players!

What do you all think?

He plays within the rules. He never goes out and runs straight for the man, he always runs straight towards the ball, if someone gets in his way its their fault.

The only reason people are complaining is because of his large frame. Pickett hits players just as hard, but because he is small no one complains.

Also, this is footy, not netball. The game is starting degenerate to such an extent that body contact is almost forbidden.

Exactly!

He's a fair player. If he was doing anything illegal he would of been reported or cited on video. The fact that the Umpiring Boss has come out and said he's got nothing to worry about is great and no suprise to me. I hope he cleans up a few Dockers tomorrow :D

George Grilyasich has been milking this for all its worth this week.
THe curious thing is that he barracks for freo. If you ask me hes been doing it on purpose.

I hope he has a shocker (unlike the dockers) and spend three quarters on the bench tomorrow but I also hope he isnt picked on by the umps.

The head umpire (notsure of his name) has spoken out about the rumors of Wilsons' behavior and he says its all completely legal. He runs in straight lines and if anyone gets in his way then bad luck!

History shows there have been a lot of men throughout the years that have played the game as hard as Troy does. If George G is complaining about it, its only natural because George G is nothing but a whinger, and if a few Frockers get cleaned up, then they should not play the game, go and play netball instead.

It is really unfair for Troy. He is exactly the player we need in our forward line, and hopefully with Phil back now, there is a real class act to crumb the ball went Troy smashes the Packs. I mean, when he was on last week, he didn't get any goals, but he did help with a few.
And already other players are looking out for him, even from our own team:)!

I have a theory that both teams were told to tone down the physical stuff yesterday, or at least to avoid a repetition of last year's fighting.

It was a strangely quiet game for long periods, especially at the start when you would expect some fireworks.

As for Troy Wilson, I believe he is a throwback to the way footy used to be played, which is why I and many other people like him so much. He plays it different to the rest - the way it was before the AFL sanitised the game and made it a game for runners and receivers. It would be almost impossible to get drafted and survive at AFL level for any period of time playing the way he does. But, and all credit to him, he's come through to get drafted at the age of 29 with a mature body and will have a short (relatively) but effective career.

Within the context of the rules of the AFL, Wilson is completely fair, which is what the umpires have consistently indicated throughout the year.

I think Wilson may be dropped after Sundays game. Cummings i think kicked 4 on the weekend so that is now 9 in two games to Wilsons 2.

I hope Cummings can push for selection. I like Wilson too but Cummings kicks ass.

jod23 - you could be right but I hope not for Willo's sake. I'm one of the few who thinks there's room for them both in our side and our squad. You can't compare 9 WAFL goals to 2 AFL like that! Otherwise Buszan would be a walk-up start after his 9 goals the other week.

There's more to playing FF than just kicking goals. Splitting packs and leading create so many chances for others, and in a side with Merenda, Matera and Wirrapunda up forward and (usually) a non-dominant midfield, that's a big bonus. So Willo's 0 goals against St. Kilda in fact nearly killed 3 of their players (fairly) and gave off 7 or 8 goals because of it.

Wilson will get one more game against the Tigers next week, and then Cummings will return for Essendon and Port (yes, his old teams!).

At season's end, Judge will leave Buszan on the rookie list and keep both FFs in the squad until next season, during which one will get weeded out and replaced by Buszan.

At least, says me.

Cummings won't be with us next year. KJ has never liked him and now he has an excuse to sack him. Willo will also struggle for a place on our list next year. Especially if KJ remains coach, i don't see the eagles playing with him at FF.

If KJ gets sacked than both players might keep their spots.

Thats my views. I have my reasons, but i'm using my old mans computer and his keyboard is stuffed. I can't freakin type:mad: Why the hell did i format my computer? I HATE MICROSOFT!!!!!!

But the difference between Buz kicking goals and Scotty kicking goals at WAFL level is that Cummings is proven. They know Scotty can come in and kick goals whereas Buz would be in his debut.

I agree though, why not play them in the same side. We have 4 interchange spots, one for a tall (Cox, Gasper) 2 for small running type players (Chambers, Munro) and then Cummings and Wilson filling spot 4. If Cummings starts and starts well then leave him out there and experiment with Wilson at CHF or on a wing. If he played on a wing he could be a tall marking option out of defence??

Anyway i agree, play them both.
