Beaten by a better team.

Josh was needed and was his usual self.

I couldn't jump on that Vince Carter deal fast enough.

We CANNOT waste Dirk's prime.

You know, after last season I thought he was toast, but he's proven me wrong repeatedly over the years and continues to do so.

He's right up there in the top 5 discussion imo and there will never be another Dirk.

He's just a massive contradiction on the court. A 7 footer who lives for jump shots yet can still abuse you in the post, a complete unco yet one of the quickest big men in history, a quiet, shy player who is also the only big man I've seen demand the ball in the clutch.

His prime should not be wasted I agree - but I can't see how Dallas can get something around him for next season (which is realistically their only shot imo).

Did you see Howard's layups today? I was flabbergasted. The guy was obviously trying his best, but it seemed he could only hit shots that he shouldn't have taken, everything that was open was bricked and his D, whilst passable, should be much better.

Excellent deal for both teams. NJ reunites Harris with his **** buddy, gets space, Dallas gets an all round offensive player to support Dirk.

With that Dallas deal, you could run a team of (later in the year when JET is back):

Kidd
Terry
Carter
Bass
Dirk

D'Antoni would blow his load at the chance to coach that.

Dirk was amazing today, he couldn't have done anything else. Josh actually looked like he was going to threaten, but when he went off with foul trouble he didn't look the same when he came back.

Rondo went all J Kidd on J Kidd, he was getting to the rim at will, and Barea wasn't slowing him down either.

One of the better summaries Ive seen.

The only chance I see (and Cuban hinted at this in a Q and A) is if Dallas can capitalise on the global economic crisis combined with the 2010 sweepstakes (which I suspect teams are using as a ruse to simply reduce payroll because of declining owner $$$).

What if team's want to dump good players to save money? I'd imagine Cuban is one of the few with the ability to throw 100 million against the wall at the moment.

I read a stunning article the other day. The Maloofs in Sac have lost 30 mil in the past few months, and are now denying overtime and luncheons to their employees to save $.

What if we offered Stackhouse's expiring for Kevin Martin?

There could be some turbulence to come and Dallas is in a good position to capitalise.

And if we can land 2 All stars, God Bless the sub prime mortgage industry.

Howard could be Pierce. But I dont know if it's weed or attitude or what, but he is so dissapointing.

At his best, his game has no weakness. It's not great in any area, but he'd rate an 85 in everything if playing mentally at 100%

Cheers :thumbsu:

Now if I can just get you to appreciate Webber a bit more we'll be able to be friends again :)

Well, Cuban had most of his money in stocks, so it isn't like his value went up recently or anything. In fact, I heard his wealth almost halved (which still means he has about 800 million in personal assets) and sports are usually a good business to be in during recession (people don't stop watching tv).

Then again, he might end up incarcerated or fined heavily over the insider trading thing, is that still going?

Howard could be Pierce. But I dont know if it's weed or attitude or what, but he is so dissapointing.

He can't shoot midrange like Pierce, and can't abuse smaller players as well (Pierce has a huge ass he uses to great effect), but Howard is much quicker and more athletic.

It isn't the weed, most of the NBA smokes weed.

Yeah, he's a poor man's Scottie Pippen basically.

I think you're overrating Howard's ceiling. I thought he over-achieved for two years due largely to Avery's brilliant offense, but ultimately he's got a shaky jumper, poor handles, and his athleticism whilst good, is not great for a wing.

Anyways, just finished watching the replay - Carlsisle is responsible for that loss. His decision to switch the pick-and-roll resulted in Kidd being abused by Pierce, with the occasional Barea getting abused by Pierce thrown in for good measure.

By the time the 4th quarter rolled round and he actually decided to put a decent defender on Pierce (i.e. George), PP was in a rhythm, and won them the game.

Hopefully this is the trigger for a few more moves!

Interesting to see how JO and the Heat go. He'll definately be good on the defensive end. I think Toronto will still be ordinary.

I think this is a little lopsided.

yes Marion is the better player but big guys have more value, so that is a wash.

But giving up Moon and taking back Banks' contract pushes this one in favour of Miami IMO

Heat also get a future 1st.

But given they're taking on 15M or so in salary, I think it's fair enough.

I'm hearing Amare could be going to the Cavs for Hickson and Wally. That would be an outrage!

Hickson is good, but jeez - Cavs would surely have the chip locked up with Amare there. I know he's got worse and his D stinks - but the Cavs play great D and LBJ won't mind giving up a couple of extra shots a game if it means a championship.

Kobe would hit the roof haha.

Didn't know you could get more raging than the other pair, but here we have it:

The pick is huge considering we don't have a first round pick in this years draft. It's conditional so I'm hoping the Raps make a barnstorming run for the playoffs so we get it this year...although I wouldn't mind having 2 first round picks in the 2010 draft with the big FA market opening up.

The cap was always going to be the main issue holding up the trade. It basically means unless we make further trades, our current roster is all we have - exc draft picks (which in all reality will prob be only a 2nd round one) until the 2010 off season. There's no room for FA picks in 2009.

Although having said that, it's a fantastic trade for us. Marion was always wasted in Miami. This might be the difference between being the 4th seed and where we stand currently in the east.

O'Neal probably wont be with us in 10/11 (at least not with a contract of the same size) but it the short term, will mean more minutes for Beasley, most likely as a starter, as well as more minutes for some of the small forwards like James Jones and hopefully Dorell Wright when he comes back.

Havn't seen much of Moon at all. Seemed like a solid player last season but has fallen off this season. Can anyone give me a little run-down of him please?

Can't wait for more trades to happen around the league. Would have been a massive anti-climax had the Adam Morrison trade been the big blockbuster.
