FOOTSCRAY player Peter Foster suffered a broken leg, and a shortened career, as a result of a tripping incident in 1992,
The tribunal of the day showed its concern by suspending the culprit, Hawthorn's Paul Dear, for four matches.

Port Adelaide's Darryl Wakelin has suggested that Alastair Lynch's wild striking attempts in the grand final were premeditated, saying Lynch threatened before the opening bounce to "cave" Wakelin's head in if the key defender crossed him.

Video footage of the Lynch-Wakelin fight accompanied Wakelin's description of what had occurred midway through the first quarter of the grand final. Lynch received a 10-match suspension and a fine for his actions
