Looks very good so far but we have a long wait ahead.

I don't quite get the date. There's gotta be something to it, the game is already getting gameplay demo's and looks just about complete now yet it is going to be at least 15-16 months away and could be 24 months away?!

The game could look terribly outdated by 2012. I haven't exactly checked into it, nor do I know if it's even been mentioned, but if it's using the Unreal 3 engine then this won't look great by the time it's out (and based on Bioshock 2 could look downright shocking). I mean it looks good now in comparison to what is out, but 15+ months down the line will it be that good to what we're going to see over the next 15 months? Would think, or at least hope that they've created a new engine for this and it can look just as good then as it does now. To me, from what I've seen it's not looking like an Unreal 3 engine game, but I could be wrong.

Was interesting watching a GiantBomb vid the day after this was announced. They basically discussed whether this game will have genuine ties to Bioshock or is more or less a new IP just using the Bioshock name to not get run over by the bigger titles. Or is this going to be considered more the 'true' Bioshock sequel/prequel that the creator never got to make (I guess being 40 years prior to Bioshock 1 it's considered a prequel?). There's a real mystery as to how this will play out and what the story will really centre around.

bioshock 2s graphics were 2 years out of date so it only makes sense they'd do the same with this one

Bioshock Infinite Will Rock on the PS3

One of the biggest multiplatform games on the horizon, BioShock Infinite, might have PS3 gamers nervous over poor porting. So Irrational Games Lead Technical Designer Chris Kline reached out to fans in a recent forum post to assure PS3 owners that they won't be getting the short end of the stick this time around.

Kline notes that the PS3 version of Infinite will not be a port at all. As the development team is larger than the team that worked on the original BioShock, the versions are being built simultaneously. Furthermore, the team has modified the game engine so that all platforms resemble the PS3 version from a programming perspective. This is beneficial for the PS3 version, and the other platforms will apparently enjoy increased performance. Finally, Kline mentions that QA is testing on both the 360 and PS3 equally.
Sounds good to me. :thumbsu:

After recently getting a 360 my friend has been lending me his 360 games which I haven't played. I recently received Bioshock 2 from him. Having known that the Bioshock series was held in high regard by many (I hadn't played either at the time) I gave it a shot. **** it's good. I'm about 5 hours in and the story has totally got me captivated. I've heard that many state that the whole wonder of Rapture was perfectly captured in the original Bioshock as such the sequal was a dissapointment but me never having played the original excludes me from this claim.

It is a very 'different' sort of game than your average FPS. It has character, it's not just a simple copy paste and change settings/characters to suit a crappy story. In the current world of churning out games without any thought as to what it actually is, this was a refreshing change.

Playing it has totally got me excited for Infinite whereas beforehand it was not even on my radar.

Bioshock 1 for me was a lot more intense, you really felt that the world was real and it just immerses (sp?) you in the game.

The second one for me was more of a fan game, bigger guns, better plasmids etc. I still enjoyed the second but I think the first one was better and I'll be getting the new one.

Agree with this however, if I was in Space Cow's shoes and had not played the original I would've liked it more. I didn't even finish Bio2 found it a chore.

Nice preview from Joaby on Gamearena here.

BioShock: Infinite Preview

Bit that I really liked.

He leaps onto a sky-line as a salvo of rockets narrowly misses him, and starts zipping towards the blimp. As he zips around, there's absolutely no frame-rate slowdown and yet the attention to detail is still right there. Everyone in the room is gaping - especially thanks to the sense of momentum portrayed by not only the twisting of the sky-line but by the effects of wind as well.
Also Elizabeth's "Tear" powers sound pretty interesting.

Super pumped for this. Hopefully some more details at E3.

Cannot wait for this, looks awesome! Loved the first 2.

Bit disappointed at the wait on release though, been checking it out for 6 months or so now. Hopefully Rage will keep me busy in the mean time.

****ing great news, I'll be honest, the first game I had to push to get through at times (the ending however was ****ing awesome) but the second game was one of the best that I have played.

Will purchase as soon as it is released.

Loved the first, agree that you feel totally immersed in the world and the story.
Second didn't really do anything for me as it just felt like more of the same. I still finished it but it just wasn't as memorable. Looking forward to this setting.

Own both the first and second and have failed to finish both. Not because it is difficult I just genuinely can't get into it. Personally I would like this game more if it was a bit more colourful maybe add some daylight. Have it set on the surface and not underwater.

Maybe set it on a island and make it open world ala fallout (but not so massive). But you could have massive interiors of buildings over and under ground.

Edit: I have just looked this up on wiki and it says it is a city floating in the air. So maybe my ideas could be used for a fourth game :)

****ing wow. looks immense.

the 2nd half of the video is bloody brilliant and i loved the bit near the end when he jumps out of the blimp, rides the rail and as soon as he lands blows some poor sucker in the back with a shotty. made me laugh.

That looks absolutely amazing.

the change of setting definitely has me interested again.
bioshock 2 became a chore towards the end for me after i was enthralled with the first.

also multiplayer was an absolute piece of junk in bioshock2 so hopefully they scrap it completely and solely focus on delivering an amazing, completely immersive campaign like they did in the original.

Ken Levine (the part founder of Irrational Games, BI dev) has said they'll only do MP if it works. They have tried a few variations so far but nothing has worked. But he said they'll focus entirely on getting the single player down and awesome before doing any sort of focus on Multiplayer...which is 100% the way to go. Then again, wouldn't expect anything less from Ken, he's a genius.

Bioshock and Bioshock 2 were made by different devs

I hated number 2, couldn't even finish it

Infinite is being made by Irrational who did number 1 :thumbsu:

Thought this would be a good place to put this:

I own both but haven't finished either. Just not a fan. The games look nice.

I don't know, I would have finished them if there were codes. Not because it was hard but it would have made it fun if I had unlimited bullets.

A bit like RE Nemesis I had a version that had a gattling gun with unlimited ammo and just loved running around.

The gameplay wasn't wholly what made Bioshock awesome.

If you had unlimited ammo and just ran around recklessly it'd take away a fair bit from what made the game so good.

It was the story, the atmosphere and amazing attention to detail (exactly what Irrational have done with Infinite from the looks of things). Plus the twist is a pearler and something rarely seen in gaming (in terms of how much it hits you).

That said, you really shouldn't have a lack of bullets to find or use. Never really found myself running out.

I loved both.

So many shooters these days are unnecessarily convoluted, the Bioshocks kept it relatively simple.

The atmosphere was incredible also. Loved electrocuting ***** then shooting them in the face while they had a spasm.

Good times.

Irrational have recently released some videos a new class of enemies that will be in Infinite. Dubbed "Heavy Hitters" they won't be as difficult to take down as a Big Daddy but will still provide a considerably harder challenge than regular enemies.

Motorized George Washington Mech with gatling gun? Damn, mewants.

Also release date for this is October 19th. Probably my most wanted game release of this year so I think I'll go the whole hog with regards to the special/limited edition. Content wise I'd love a map of Colombia and a figure of the Motorized Patriot.

If theres a midnight launch for this game, im there. The 1st Bioshock is easily my favourite game this gen, have the 2nd one but never got around to playing it properly, will have to before this one comes out though.

Looks brilliant
