Exactly right. Blair and Fyfe going hard at the ball, Hodge deliberately trying to injure a player off the ball after a whistle has been blown. The exact sort of behaviour that should be discouraged

Not to overlook that both the ball and most of Wingard's body were behind the line and out of play. No thought whatsoever except to hurt the player after whistle blown and ball out of play. Part of a pattern of behaviour from Hawks leadership.

Hodge's suspension was definitely not long enough though

Especially with his record for this kind of thing. Twice this year now he's done a real dirty act. They need to be harder on this kind of stuff cos it seems the message is not getting through to Hodge.

Agreed. The thing that also pisses me off (this is also being discussed on the main board) is that everyone sees Hodge as this nice guy and a good bloke. I call bullshit on that. He's not a good bloke. He's a dirty player who would be missing a final if the AFL weren't so in love with him.
