why is blake on the geelong list. he is easily the worst player/ruckman in the competition. he is too unco-ordinated and too slow. we need to get rid of him and pick up a young ruckman in the draft. what are peoples thoughts?

I thought I was the only one who wanted to get rid of him. My reasons are a little different. I actually think the guy is a reasonable athlete it's just that he is mentally f###ing soft.
 
His only 20 years old guys! Give him a break. I'm sure he will improve over time. I think we have beem lucky to have him to fill in when our big guys are injured. His played something like 11 senior AFL games (4 of them 2006 NAB cup). His skills seem a bit dodgy at times but I think he could be a valuable player in the future.

PS: I wonder if he hates being 199cm tall... I mean wouldn't it be so annoying to be only 1cm away from being 2 WHOLE METERS TALL! ;)

Blake will take another year.
I think he will be a very good plater for us.
He has to improve his stamina
With King being touch amd go you would be stupid to get rid of him

According to the 2006 stats, he is 200cm tall. The GFC site stats are all over the place, and I wouldn't put much faith in their accuracy.

As for Blake, he is still a big kid, and needs experience. You can't give up on a ruckman at the age of 20.

That's a good point. I'm not his biggest fan, but does anyone remember Matthew Primus?
 
can people please stop writing "His" instead of "He's"..........i mean its not hard.......its not cool....all you're doing is demonstrating what a moron u are in that u cant get your thick head around basic english........i am :D:D:D:Ded off at it and ive had enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tom dont be a smart arse........if u knew what i was talking about youd know that writing 'ive' instead of 'i've' is completely different to writing 'his' instead of 'he's'.....its just stupid.
 
Mark Blake = Useless

I played against him in junios over the years and he was always way bigger than anyone but still did :D:D:D:D all. He is a dud an absolute dud.

Trade hime, delist him, sack him, kill him. I don't care just get him off our list!

Kent when you use the word youd can you please use "you would" or use an apostrophe when appropriate. Thanks. now getting back to Mark Blake, he is usesless overhead which all big men should dominate. in the NAB cup i could count a number of times when he droped simple marks. he is almost as useless as his father was back wen he played for geelong. i say get rid of him for a priority draft pick and get a ruckman that can actually play football.

We need a ruckman for the magoos so he can stay, but I agree he is useless. Even though he is 20, he should be showing something by now. Correct me if I am wrong but Kingy was playing when he was 18 and always showed natural ability. I worry if Blake hasn't got it by now, what's to say he ever will.

Comment on Blake's performance in the VFL yesterday, courtesy of Dasher on Cats Claw:

Mark Blake dominated in the ruck. I am not sure of the number of hitouts (IMO at least 30), but his around the ground work was the best of any ruckman at Geelong this year. He was prepared to run and carry the ball, take players on and even kick the ball. In the end he ended up with 27 disposals. Would have been very close to BOG. For those who have said Blake is one-dimensional and can only ruck, you needed to see his around the ground work today, he was sensational.
