Yes, top effort for a debut game, one he will remember fondly with the close win.

The chase down and rushing the ball over the goal line to deny Rewault was a fantastic never give up effort.

What was interesting was the role he played and the comments by the club on who he had been training on. He'd been slowly getting better and better marking Darling and Kennedy at training that says he can play that third tall role down back. He looks like a medium sized defender who can play taller which is great to know if Brown gets traded.:thumbsu:

How about those commentators though talking him up and calling him a "first round draft pick" from three ago:D

Reminds me of Dale Morris in that regard, but with the potential to have a boot as good as Hurn. Really promising debut.

Beat Riewoldt a few times when he was flat out on the lead.
Very impressed with what Wilson brings to the table and very keen to see what he can do with an extended run in the seniors.

yep - MUST stay in the side. if he gets dropped for Waters or Schofield i'll be disheartened

His ability to play the third tall is handy, but it's not really an area we're lacking. Glass has been playing third tall. Schofield does it. Brennan has done it. Waters can do it. What we really need is someone that can shutdown a small. Definitely a great game that should see him find a spot in the 22, but he is competing with quite a few accomplished players. Unless someone else bobs up to play on Milne, Yarran, etc, we're still going to be dealing with A. Selwood.

If either Glass retires or Brown asks for a trade then we will need Wilson. He can also cover an injury to Hurn, Schofield or Waters who play medium tall.

Oh, and just be careful about comments about Glass playing as the third tall, if Ian Dargie reads it you could be in for some abuse.;):D

I rate him a better kick than Hurn. He's so much more creative, has better vision, has incredible weighting on his kicks - a lot of penetration and length.

Showed enough to warrant an extended run.

Schofield and Brennan must be getting edgy.
Schofield (and for that matter Hurn) should be tried further up the ground in patches once Wilson's settled.

I'm too wary to get my hopes up though. Pretty good chance they'll only play him til the team gets beated badly and then he'll have to wait for another injury to get reselected

Great debut. Good kick, but not a better kick than Hurn though.

He looked poised for a first gamer. Also looks like someone who could play in a handful of positions.

Would like to see all of Waters, Wilson and Hurn in the team (more rebounding than Shaq on stilts). Schoey at his best would be in the 22 but on output this year he has to be made to find touch in the WAFL.

Waters isn't in the same league.

He can kick. That's enough for me at this point.

Watch Shannon Hurn's output increase.

been thinking this too. he looked good and poised and does exactly what eagles were hoping schofield does. but alas, schofield doesnt and doesnt get the ball nowhere near enough. hope he stays in, although this is the eagles we are talking about.

Schofield provides something different. Leg speed.

Obviously a kick is quicker than any player running but you don't always have that long option and require some dash.

The gulf between Hurn and Waters is massive, the gap between Waters and Schofield isn't as large in spite of Waters being the biggest ball winner for us in defense. He's just not that damaging by foot it's more his ability to press up into space. Given he's got the least accountable role of all our defenders that shouldn't surprise.
