WTF? 25% off because he pleads guilty! How piss weak is that, was he going to plead not guilty? Make the 7 weeks start when his limp wrist has healed.
 
As a trained athlete in combat sports he should lose that 25%. He arguably (very loose argument though) took Stakers life into his own hands knowing the full consequences of what could happen. Should have got 10 minimum.
 
I hope Staker is OK - diabolical hit from Barry and obviously not at all in the spirit of the Eagles Swans rivalry that fans have enjoyed over recent years.

Just disgusted with that. He is only really missing 3-4 weeks because of his wrist injury. A 25% discount for pleading guilty also? I would like West Coast to say that they are not happy with it but I doubt that will happen. :thumbsdown:

yeh i agree suspension should start when his wrist has healed and then that would be most the season, deserved to get the season.

You guys have issues hey. He did not get a 25% discount in points. His councel argued that he should, and teh jury was told to take that into consideration. Your hero, ben cousins has done much much more to tarnish the name of the code in Australia... or is that to be long forgotten?

Just curious... if Hally hit Medhurst..or even Jeff Farmer... would this even be an issue? Or would you guys be calling for him to be knighted?

You just cant do that.

As I said on the main page Sydney would get some lawyer or doctor in to argue that he could "technically" wear a guard or something. So either way he;d get 7 weeks.

Good that he will miss 7 weeks and also we wont have to deal with him later in the year.
 
he misses the game next game against us. that's the main thing as for as we are concerned. it's of no real consequence to us whether he misses games against other teams....

this is a definate case of why the AFL should have a send off rule. we were disadvantaged during the game, but other teams are going to benefit. because of the strange fixturing this year we also will benefit.

we've got far more problems within our playing group than to get mixed up about what hall should've been suspened for.

Yeah, and he was kicked out of the Eagles and banned by the AFL for 12 months.

Well... hally is probably the least of your problems anyway. He got one goal in a game where u guy got thrashed by 60+ points. Between now and then, hopefully you guys can get some momentum up, a few players back from injury and a bit more form, so that we can get back to that classic rivalry that we have had over the last few years.

I`m happy with 7 wks but feel robbed because he` gonna be out injured anyway.

IMO: If Staker had recieved a broken jaw then Hall would have gotten 12 wks but scans are clear and looks like he`s gonna be alright.

Still, we're getting off topic; we were talking about Barry Hall and his suspension. Well, I think it's ok, I doubt he'll ever pull something like that again, either that or he's a bigger dick than I thought.

Hrm... if Hall hit Medhurst or Farmer, to me it wouldn't be as significant an issue as it is when it's an eagle, however, it WAS an eagle hit, so discussion on an EAGLE board is pretty valid in my opinion. I wouldn't be calling for him to be knighted though. To suggest that we'd commend the blatant thugery that could easily end a players career is atrocious. You should hear back to your own board before you look any more stupid and careless than you already do.

Whilst I will never see eye to eye with any of you regarding the severity of the sentence etc.

I am sick of people bringing up drug culture in every argument when it comes to your club. Drugs are not a simple fix issue and they are completely irrelevant to Barry Hall punching someone in a game.

I will defend my team and it's players probably with as much biased passion as I can muster but I will never cheapen my argument trying to bring up off field problems at the West Coast Eagles.

I even bought one of your heritage jumpers to wear to training as I love the old strip.

And to finish off where all the stones can be thrown at me - I actually think Barry Halls suspension was 1 week harsher than it deserved but that's just my view on the matter.

Good luck to your team put Wirra and Embley back in and instant force again.
 
Having said all that I believe Hall got about what he deserved. He was never going to get 10-14 weeks. Him breaking his hand and not being available for the majoirty of that time makes any ruling below 8 weeks obsolete anyways and that's a tad disappointing but hey. I think we're forgetting that Staker was cleared of any fracture and is hopefully available for selection this weekend. It could have been a much much different story so get well soon Brent.

Mate I couldn't give a shit who Hall hit, he got off light.

He should have got 10 weeks whether or not it was a WCE players.
