***************************************************

Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

But they have historically been successful in Crouch’s era, including a grand final berth, until the club fell apart. Hardly his fault. Can’t very well dismiss any player based on a club going to hell in a hand basket.

We took Martin off GC hands when he looked like being an also ran, exception or rule?
Martin is highly skilled and universally thought as talented per gary ablett and SoS. Also suns have genuine talent from draft concessions. Martin is the burst player we needed. We need to change our culture. Adding another crows Player is not going to do that. By your rationale Mcgovern would have made carlton a premiership contender. Do you think it is a coincidence that Adelaide has had a dramatic fall and Betts and Mcgovern a so poor.

I said defensive running, not tackles.

Like getting back and helping your defenders. There is more to defense than tackling.

I am only relaying Adelaide supporters frustrations with him all year.

Yeah, he tends to stay goal side of packs with space. He only moves in during a stoppage. Hes often behind the pack if Adelaide dont come out with the pill which is why hes been very ordinary this year and looked great when they were dominant. Hence the frustration with his defensive running, or lack thereof.

Do they still keep hard-ball-get stats? Id be surprised if he registers many, if at all.

I'd take Cunnington off Norths hands ..they can take silvagni ...I'd like to get Viney ..i rate him he is quality player ..we lack abit of punch in the middle and we would get that with his inclusion that ...Merrett is a neat clean efficient player he would help immensely too ..two A grads quality mids are essential ..pretty much a must ..Cripps and walsh are only two full time mids ..we need more ..
Cunnington has got nerve damage in his back and will probably need surgery to fix it. He's also 30 next year & outside our age profile. Too risky.

Not sure where you are going with the Gov, Betts stuff. A bit more dramatic hyperbole perhaps.

All I am suggesting is that you dismissed Crouch because he is part of a losing culture, something that is fallacious at best. No need to repeat the arguments as to why.

Your last sentence is a mystery, then again, we think on ‘positively’ different wavelengths.

Oh GWS promised him a spot in the midfield did they?

Was very clear that he wanted to stay, his management said he wanted to stay, the Giants said he wanted to stay, he was considered unlikely because everyone thought he wanted to stay.

He left because the Giants prioritised many ahead of him and offered him well under what he was worth, we then offered him a nice contract above what he’s worth (not complaining here)

If people are silly enough to think $$$$ isn’t the biggest factor here, that’s up to them. Going to a club that will pay you what you’re worth,is not a bad thing.

I'd prefer to get a best 22 player with our top 10 pick than go to the draft with it.

At this stage, there is no one available/gettable on the market we should fork our top ten pick over.

Thats a very funny story considering GWS reportedly offered him $730k a year.

And if you believe a player who says they want to stay during the season I've got stocks in a Nigerian gold mine to sell you.

See where the leaks are coming from.

In all seriousness, different people have different sources. And those different sources have different perceptions or how meeting went. Club may think they nailed it so the source there passes it along. Player/manager wasnt impressed with a certain aspect so the source there passes that along.

Intelligence is a funny game. Its why you treat Bluemours with liberal amounts of salt. It all comes out in the wash eventually.
