Trust me. An emergency always warms up... Up until a certain point.

which is?

Because we all know duigan didn't warm up for the EF last year. He said it himself. He was busy eating a sandwich.

Carlton can get ******. Sack everyone. Will not give a single cent to this piece of shit anytime soon. There is more hope in being an Essendon supporter tha following these selfish, heartless, talentless, soulless cretins.

**** 'em.

You have a severe case of Hirdinitis.

Have a cup of tea, take some panadol and have plenty of bed rest.

If symptoms persist see your doctor.

Richmond supporter coming here to find joy......how ironic.

Wouldn't worry etsal1. I would suspect a troll account and he missed the page or two after where I actually clarified the point I was trying to make, but out of anger didn't properly articulate it.

Just a below average team, don't worry about what MM says to the media, he knows that the list needs a rebuild and action will be taken
Sick of people blaming the list and letting Mick off from being a big part of the problem. So much of this list is playing well below potential. How is the coach not partly responsible for this. Our side plays without passion and discipline. This was also evident under Ratten but he got sacked. It is still there with Malthouse and the club is talking about extending his contract.

The side played without passion and discipline under Ratten, and is now doing the same under Malthouse. I can only see one constant - the list. Hence, the list is the issue. If Ratten couldn't fix it & Mick can't, maybe it's time we just accept this list is inherently screwed.

I see that the issue is the way the club is run, coached and managed. We have had a terrible culture for many years going back to when they brought Pagan in. Ratten in my opinion was a great assistant but not up to a senior role. Malthouse is too much like Pagan. Great in his day but past his best. Also for what it is worth Ratten got much more out of the list than Malthouse is getting. The side has gone further backwards under Mick.

Ratten got more out of the list because all our good players were in their prime. Now that they are old/retired/struggling with injury, it looks like we are going backwards. Because we have nothing coming through to pick up the slack for Scotto, Judd, Carrots etc decline due to disastrous recruiting/development all which took place BEFORE Mick inherited this mess.

I agree the list is clearly the issue. My concern is that a significant cultural and list change cannot be done overnight and often clubs fall into the trap of wanting to be seen as decisive and doing something. In the short term it is easier to move the coach on rather than tackle systemic issues with the list, just hoping we don't fall into that trap.

Perhaps Mick is inferring that you can't turn over the list and cut ten if the draft is weak.

There isn't another Brisbane out there who will leak Polec, Docherty, Longer, Karnezis, etc. for a second round pick.

Or another Hardwick who will take Warnock for a second round pick.

Re-builds don't take a year mate, we have a few lean years ahead of us. 4-5 this year, 4-5 the next year and so on and so on, until the list is at an acceptable standard

Not on the ground. And not after there is no late change announced 90 mins before the game.

Murph wasn't ruled out until after the FINAL warm up.
Correct. He was on the final team sheet submitted by the club. Changing the team after the team sheet is handed in draws a hefty fine unless a club can prove the change was medically necessary.

Anyone who thinks that Murphy was rested as some sort tanking effort is kidding themselves. If you wanted to do that you wouldn't go as far as including the player on the final team sheet.

It goes back to before Pagan. It started with Parkin empowering the playing list & the players took it to a whole new level under Brittain, who had little control over the players. By the time Pagan came in the older players were running the club & this continued right through the Pagan & Ratten years.

Our club is very much like Collingwood through the early to mid '70s, when the players were deified by officials & supporters alike & therefore did not have to get the results on the field to earn the accolades of their loyal followers. Our players need to have the self-importance knocked out of them, just like Hafey did at Collingwood.

I can appreciate you boys don't like the taste of a loss, but we aren't as far away as many seem to think we are.

MM is getting to the bottom of the problem. He has come out and said we are mentally weak and doesn't know why we don't show up against lower sides and the fact we can't seem to string 3 performances together. We have known this for ages, but don't forget MM hasn't watched our club as intimately as we have over the years. The very fact that he has said that it will now be addressed, and I for one think it is the biggest problem that we have. We don't know how to be disciplined for 4 quarters, and we don't know how to be disciplined week after week. Once MM makes this a focus, you are going to see that nobody gets away with dropping off from here on in and our side is going to turn it around.

This seasons done and has been for weeks now, but I fully expect us to be back in 8 next year and causing some real headaches as Mick gets a 2nd year of coaching this club under his belt, and is given a 2nd opportunity to bring in players that he needs and moves on those who don't have what it takes above the shoulders to get the job done.

It is a process and he is tightening things up, and expect the leakage to become less and less and the outfit to become more professional next year.

(In the meantime I am hoping we don't take away too many more wins so we can draft some serious talent over a group of players with no much between them, or have some serious trade currency come years end).

Oh my god more of this. Our half forwards offer nothing offensively, but are no where to be seen where the opposition half back are kicking ******* goals.
Our flankers are the problem. All shit at either attacking or defending, and none of them rotate through the middle.
Is that a mick thing or a lack of players thing?
We seem to have 4 players who play onball.
A premiership team built around flankers
Our recruiters can not spell

You too?

Must be a rare thing for clubs to look for running players when we're slow and lack speed. They weren't the only flankers picked around that mark, but continue your rant. Then we'll have people want to go after a Hill, Smith or Gaff. :drunk:

Other will then bitch about Cripps not being fast and Robinson not being a mid.

Bad enough to say that our flankers are all shit at either attacking or defending. Nothing constructive and accurate about that.

Ever the optimist MileHigh :)
I'd consider myself a realist and I reckon I can put my flag down enough to see things clearly enough without getting worked up about a loss or carried away with a win (although let it be known I have also been known to do this).

I don't let my feelings get summarised at the final siren, I watch how the boys react after the game (win or loss), what the players have to say in their interviews, but more importantly I watch very closely to what Mick has to say after the game. I think that reveals more than anything. He's working it out step by step. I've been following Carlton all my life. Mick hasn't had that luxury (for the lack of a better term). He's been given 1 full year and has had his 1st year of changing the list in the direction he wants. There is no debating that was our best off season in recent memory and he will do the same thing again next year. You can't get it to where it needs to be in 1 year, and he will now have had 2 years to have a good look at the players and get to know who has it and who doesn't. He will be telling those around him what needs to happen and they will be making that happen. In the one instance last year where they couldn't get it done (Everitt) and he went and closed the deal himself.

He has finally gotten down to the fact it is not necessarily the talent of the list, its the mentality of the list. MM won't suffer fools easily, and now that he has made this link he will make it his focus, and anyone he sees not cutting the mustard is going to find themselves on the out pretty quickly
